4 TRIES, 7 TRY ASSISTS, 16 Goals 14 LB Assists 12, Line Breaks185 Run Metres, 16 Tackle busts, 13 Repeat sets, 895 Kick Metres 53 Tackles 0 Misses, 7 FG per game minimum..For those who criticise Brooksy’s play, I’d really like to hear what your expectations are from your halfback. What KPI’s would you set for him? Feels like you want him to be Tommy Turbo/ DCE and Victor Radley all rolled into one. I’m pretty sure his coach would be asking him to make his tackles, get the team to the end of sets and get his hands on the footy. He ticks all these boxes most weeks. What we lack is the Turbo’s and the Radleys.
His biggest problem is his kicking game, it's pretty much sub-standard for an NRL player. Not sure why he can never get a short kick past a defender's legs. Or if he does it is booted so hard it dents the fence. For those who criticise Brooksy’s play, I’d really like to hear what your expectations are from your halfback. What KPI’s would you set for him? X. Should be top try scorer for the year.Olam and Coates....mmm....not gonna be preety come rd 1 me thinks
Gloriously ambiguous CKEasy answer …do what a halfback is supposed to do.
It’s definitely not his strongest attribute. Our attacking sets are very clunky as a team because we lack that bit of class or polish across the park. e.g other teams have that x-factor player who creates the try on tackle 2,3 or 4. Sometimes I pin it on Brooks but lots of times he’s under immense pressure due to the clunky nature of our attack. His biggest problem is his kicking game, it's pretty much sub-standard for an NRL player. He's probably got his own personal camera man that takes all the coconut-drink happy snaps by the pool.Doesn't like that the camera man is taking photos of his errors or mistakes and making him look bad.
Yep, refereeing will be abysmal again by the looks. How did that touchie imbecile miss that?Klein and his touchie miss a blatant forward pass from melb.... 2 tackles later penalty melb.... Few tackles later try melb
Still kissed on the date
He's a reserve-grader. I'm praying he is in their 17 in Round 1. Only gets a gig because his old man sniffs Bellamy's nether regions.Copper Johns just went of injured wonder who storms next half back will be to start the season
Brooks and Hastings first hitout together. Can only improve. They'll be good. It’s definitely not his strongest attribute. Find the grass with his long kicks, organise the attack, force repeat sets and set some tries up with your passing. He did none of those in the trial gameFor those who criticise Brooksy’s play, I’d really like to hear what your expectations are from your halfback. What KPI’s would you set for him? Yeah but with Munster cheese and Harry all out for the first round he was looking likely for a starting spot now if he is out it’s probably going to be nikorimaHe's a reserve-grader. I'm praying he is in their 17 in Round 1. Only gets a gig because his old man sniffs Bellamy's nether regions.
Find the grass with long kicks - always good if you can but you can’t control if the fullback is in good position. If the team chases the kick well this one won’t cost you games.Find the grass with his long kicks, organise the attack, force repeat sets and set some tries up with your passing. Almost every other halfback I've watched in these trials has done at least a few of these things. He did some other good things but I just want to see him show some footy smarts...
Sorry, I may have been a bit cryptic and too smart for my self with the comment that you are referring to.You mean the props?
Actually, with Tamou not starting, wouldn't we go with Twal and Stefano at prop? Then Peachey at lock?
G'day @hank37w I've just finished having a look at the YouTube replay of Friday's game and imo Tamou had a very much improved game.
He was much more energetic than I had seen from him in any game last year, and I even noticed he was directing the players beside him at one stage.
In other words imo he played a much improved and much needed Captain's game.
He needs to make it through his banner 1st4 TRIES, 7 TRY ASSISTS, 16 Goals 14 LB Assists 12, Line Breaks185 Run Metres, 16 Tackle busts, 13 Repeat sets, 895 Kick Metres 53 Tackles 0 Misses, 7 FG per game minimum..
His long kicking stinks, a good halfback can find the grass at least once a game! Not only does he continually hit the wingers and fullback on the chest with his kicks, he doesn't put them high enough to give his chasers any chance to compete or make the tackle instantly.Find the grass with long kicks - always good if you can but you can’t control if the fullback is in good position. Organise the attack - attack should be organised throughout the week, I would argue guys should be in the right positions and Luke just needs to pick the right options. I seen him throw one real dusty pass in the trial which hit the deck. Not the end of the world though.
Set tries up passing - comes back to my earlier point, who are our x-factor players creating their own tries? Does Brooks need to create them all?
I’ll continue to argue he’s not a great player but we have far bigger holes in our squad, namely second row and centre.
