LIVE GAME Trial 2 vs. Dragons

Live Game Discussion
I think the loss is a blessing in disguise. This way we clearly know the basic things we need to focus on 100% of the time and not get overconfident.
I would like to see more attack and after seeing Galvin play, I would give him a shot with Sezer in the halves and maybe put Bud in 14 as cover.
I keep reading this, but we had the whole off season to work on the basics

Bulla at centre... as we have no better fullback ATM.
Bulla to me, is a better version of Cobbo, both athletes "superior running game / vertical leap" though Bulla possess better awareness / instincts on what's happening around him. This is clearly shown by his defensive reads.
I like Bulla and he has come a long way in a short time, I just think Large has more strings to his bow at the back. Either way, the future is bright whoever wears the number 1 jersey in years to come.

Not wrong Tyg. That 9 minute ram-raid down our
right was the most concerning part. I think they
flooded bud with traffic knowing how he defends,
you add lightweight To'a & Staines next to him, it
was a bit of a disaster. My only concern is that edge.
I mentioned earlier i don't think those 2 can play
together on the same side. Not convinced Lobb is
the answer as he's a bit slow to turn, Bateman will
sure that side up though, I'm not stressing (just yet)
I can’t agree the amount of tries he saves is huge. The kid is a fullback and may be the best we have had at Wests Tigers if he stays injury free.

Flanno said at the start of preseason he wants a power game for the dragons and to score more points he had them revving at a higher rate them the Tigers game day he is an intense person the dragons will Start strong then fade away

I don't know what to think of the Tigers Benji was talking about the first game being three weeks away maybe he is working them up slowly

I see to many boys smiling in our Training photos,
And for too many years we've looked a million miles behind fitness wise...

Pretty sure both points are related.
One of the main reasons I couldn’t warm to Blore, always smiling. Could never picture Storm players smiling at training or in games whilst getting their arses kicked each weekend.

Fans talk about how we have a shit culture then get angry at players because their happy at training… which one is it?

When our culture has the team fit enough to match other teams in the comp...
(Which it doesn't - and hasn't since Steve Folkes was here)

They can smile all they like....
- Getting fitter and winning games, They'll have plenty of a reason to smile....

It’s not just about the halves, 13 or 1 either. To score against a good defensive team you need to have players in motion offering options for the ball players, running into holes, changing angles, creating overlaps, playing short sides etc.
We have zero movement off the ball or in support. The best ball playing in the world won’t have any effect if there’s no options to pass to.
We ask absolutely no questions of the opposing D. This is why we can’t score.
Is it that our players aren’t skilled or smart enough or maybe we are simply not fit enough.???
Agree with this totally
Strange thing is the problem has seemed to persist even with.new coaches and players coming thru.
I've seen. U/16s teams look better in attack than we do... And don't get me started on the run arounds...at least last year they were fast slick and worked once or twice this year I've seen them laborious and slow, asking no questions of the defense

I really don't get it... All coaching staff and pretty much all the players have been in other systems that train practise and perform to a level that is base NRL... why is no one saying anything or questioning what's happening - our style of play is park footy level.
My only hope is that it's very early days and the real stuff hasn't started.
Maybe the Dragons blitz took us all by surprise but Benji should know yiu can't go into a game with pre conceived ideas.
Al least the trial told us our right side D is wet tissue paper thin.
It's so.hard to say ill give them till round whatever... We shod be giving them from round one, we've had all summer to.prepare but it appears we need much Longer... I give em till after Dolphins game about Rd 5

Yep, up the middle and to play flat & at the line. Bula
chimes in best when we play with depth as evidenced
by his try - but that wasn't a set play, that was just
Galvin playing really smart football. If you watch
that try on the full replay (not just highlight) you can
see how far he swings over from the right to the
left of Sezer's shoulder to make that play happen.
Not a set play, just ad-lib footy, was so good to see.
Also noticed how it looked like Bula actually gained
speed after stepping Sloan, mad balance great try
It had to be a set play Sezar needed to know he was going to be there.... And he did. As it unfolded a Galvin was set far to the right when the balls played then hes outside sezar down.the left.
It was so smooth... And nice to watch it unfold live when it occurred
This is u/15s footy but we do this stuff so rarely it's talked up hugely because we never see it from our blokes

I agree with most of your post.

I still PMSL when people say Wests Tigers get overconfident or complacent. After being shit for nearly 100 dog years-surely you know you’re no good thing.
And that's.hiw.im feeling when I Read. People.sayimg we've played conservative last weekend so as not to give away our secrets... Seriously... My gut tells.me.other coaches aren't quietly. Wondering what the team that ran last for two. Years coached by a rookie has in store for 24
It is a guess an angle of hope when there seems to be nothing else to go by

Don't think it's a secret thing hehe so much as it is
making them set a platform 1st & earn the right bro.
We weren't throwing the pill around willy nilly either.
I will add, that heath mason try at the end of the game
was crucial going into Rd.2 I would have hated to
get turned away on that last set on their try line lol

What are you early thoughts on Mason as a player and his prospects of becoming a regular NRL player Kaito ?
I rate him and think he will become a regular NRL player before too long, just not sure if it will be in any particular position or as a utility.

Hand on heart, I don't see it! Certainly not as a fullback
anyway.. I think he definately suits a utility role 4
sure. I'll put down the drop catches & positioning
to just nervousness, but I think he's alright at a few
things/doesn't quite excel or stand-out in any in
feature of the game I can think of. Hasn't showed
a lot of ball playing, not jet fast, decent running game,
you get the picture. Luke Laulili'i is more a prospect
imo. Mason goes ok, has 2 work hard & dream big

I think teams play a super compressed defense and they rush our halves when we attack the line, largely because we haven’t shown any ability to score tries in the three quarter line for a couple of years, save for a few games Hastings and Brooks played together. We constantly turn plodding forwards back into the teeth of it.
