LIVE GAME Trial 2: vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
Yea hard to argue. Pascoe is a suck hole. Not sure what it means but if it ends in hole I think it fits.
I think Pascoe is learning from previous mistakes and is doing ok, so far, this year.
Ditto Lee who has drifted into the background and only said something when it was worth saying.
By year end we’ll rate them imo.

No, he said remember the game plan, 5 hit ups and a kick. Whatever you do don’t spread it !
Yes, Raiders looked flat after starting the first 10min as the better looking team. Really poor effort from Ricky ‘s mob.
Maybe I’m reading too much into Ricky’s preamble, but two points...Madge was loving being away from the politics and should land a Head Coach job in the next year or two. Interesting points?

Glad the Mickey Mouse stuff is over. Only a couple of weeks of stupid fluff articles to get through. Let’s hope the team show up rd 1 at Leichhardt.
I said earlier that the team played for each other and had that winning attitude about them...
This is the exact culture that has been missing for years,Sheens is coach but I reckon that play for each other attitude has been instilled by Farah and Marshall....

I’ll rate Pascoe now. 💩

Good news, it’s only up from here Mr. Pascoe!

Agreed,in 2 weeks time all the blowtorchs will be alight and directed at underperforming coaches and clubs. We are very lucky this year as we are starting the season with a good early draw and close to a full roster of fit players.

Just re watched the game jakey Simpkin played so well, u can see in games like that one why we picked him up as a younger kid! With api and Robbie both there the sky is the limit for him imo. Also jr tupou is something special can’t wait to watch his growth and see him play in his preferred position of centre later on down the track. Such a talent! I don’t read much into trials but going of the way we defended for each other is a massive boost in confidence before the season!
Yes he is still green in terms of FG experience but played tough yesterday and a much better passing game . 200 passes a day definitely well served for Jake.

The best period yesterday was the first 22 minutes, where we only conceded 1 try to amazing but risky play after digging a bit of a hole for ourselves in terrible conditions against a team that flog us regularly.

Penalties Conceded- 4

86.9% tackle efficiency

86% completion rate

Now let's compare to the last game of last year

Penalties conceded- 7

Tackle efficiency- 80% [weird conceding we leaked 50points]

76% completion rate

Improvements have been made...
Unfortunatley stats never tell the full story. We missed 26 tackles yesterday and had 15 ineffective. Overall effectiveness was rated at 87% (whatever that really means). Round 25 we had 46 misses and 27 ineffective for an overall 82% effectiveness. Given we made 62 more tackles in the last round of 22 you would not have expected us to have the ball put over the line 8 more times. What the stats don't tell us is the difference in attitiude - one team was playing for each other and covered the misses. The other didn't give a flying ------- at that stage of the season and simply gave up.

On the opposite side of the coin - the Faders yesterday had given up in the heat towards the end of the second half. Our guys were in control for much of the game, were hungry for points and keen to support each other in Defence.

Klem nailed it in his post match - the attacking flair was founded off the first 20 minutes of solid defence and doing the hard yards in attack.

Now if only there was a way to rate attitude the stats may mean something in themselves,

Great first hit out for two of our key signings - Klemmer and Papalii. Thought Talau, Wakeham and (especially) Simpkin played much better.

It wasn't perfect and our opposition wasn't too flash but still a performance that was enjoyable to watch... and looks very promising for the year ahead.
Fantastic team effort and everyone played their role.
Our forwards should have Koroisau and Brooks pumped for Round 1. Thought Aitasi James didn't look out of place either.

Hmm, the problem is there was more than one problem. Better players with Madge wouldn’t have fixed the problem. A better coach with the same roster wouldn’t have fixed the problem.

Madge wasn’t making the right moves to fix the problem. He seemed like a decent guy; no one is questioning that.
The players did jack up on Madge at the end of 2021 and that was the kiss of death for him. One good thing about the Sheens, Marshall, Farah show. They won't get away with that nonsense under them.
