LIVE GAME Trial 2: vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
Great trial.....I honestly think Wakeham will be a good back up in the halves, Jake Simpkin looks like he has improved heaps this preseason and will go even better with Api tutoring him...there was a lot to like about this trial and we really are starting to look like a decent NRL quality team...well done to the coaching staff and club overall...bright times ahead and I cant wait...👍👍👍
Very impressed with Wakeham today and Jake Simpkin.

See Madge has already put his stamp on the Raiders, their attack is non existent and their defence is all over the shop.
Credit to him though, took him 2 years to get us to that position, he has done this in a matter of months at Canberra
He did it in a couple of weeks for NZ at the WC.

Ricky would be pissed, they scored the first try, and thought it would be a cake walk. The Tigers defence smothered them,. A lot of the young players stood up , and this will put pressure on all positions, this is what we need.

The more I look at that Earl, the more I think you're just about spot on, with maybe a couple of youngsters coming on throughout the year. I'm more than happy with that line-up.
Earl I thought the Tigers looked more dangerous in attack and stronger in defence when Staines was at Fullback. Daine Laurie worried me under the high ball and average in defence. He is such a lightweight which was highlighted when the ball was batted back to him near the RAIDERS tryline and he failed to get the ball down for a try. The rest of your team I agree with and hope that Seyfarth plays the season in the NSW Cup.

The tackle Tupou excuted on the try line until his team mates came and put the Raiders' player over the sideline demonstrated to me how much he has come on (as well as our intent in defence).

Biggest observation tho was Tigers were able to play that style of footy WITHOUT a link at 13.
Very evident we’ll see Utoikamanu, Klemmer and Ofahengaue start in the middle off the back of that, imo

Shawn Blore looking absolutely 💪🔥🔥 in his first few runs
Shawn Blore MOTM who says ?
Tommy Talau scoring a try, you love to see it! Benji Marshall-esque pass from AD too
That last try though, had to be like a blue pill for old Sheensy there. Great skills by the young fellas

Junior Tupou
2 tries
1 try assist
3 line breaks

LFG 🔥🔥
Or a half back or is everybody a half back

to be fair i think you're not giving sticky enough credit for his input on this

Not going to get carried away, but having a team who can actually pass, get offloads, hold the ball etc makes a huge difference. Who would have thought…

If Deouehi can get more attacking threats around him and his running isn’t so predictable I don’t think we need Moses. Spend the money on a top-shelf centre. If they play that brand of footy they will be hard to beat and players will want to come.

Also enjoyed watching Penrith not as fluid without API last night. Only a trial, but throw Api, Brooks and Bateman in to that team today and there’s no reason why we can’t make the 8.

He’s playing more like Farah

Does Twal really deserve a spot over Seyfarth and James ?

I'd drop Twal and play James.

James isn’t top 30 so he won’t play round 1

Seyfarth played his best 2 games in the trials which is good but is totally ineffective in his hitups.

Twal was good 115mtrs, 48 post contact, 4 tackle breaks & 2 offloads. Made more mtrs, post contact (nearly double) and tackle breaks (double) than Seyfarth so Twal wins the battle for bench spot based on the trial & we want attacking style play.

7 tries
83% Completions
17 offloads
276 passes
Everything 2022 was not.

Goal line defence and effort plays what stood out for me 100%
Raiders camped on their goal line for big periods.
Papali’i effort to get up and win the contest after 4 straight repeat sets + Tuki, Tumeth/Smith effort to force a drop out with 7 mins left with game done
Solid defence
Impressive

Great Effort Boys
They all should be proud of themselves.
Showed what they're all capable
Work as a team, results will show.
It's crazy how in just one off season and a few astute buys just how quickly you can turn things around.

As others have said - "only a trial"
I think this season success/failure is largely dependent on injuries. If we have a good run, we might give the bottom half of the 8 a shake.
