Tuimoala Lolohea Signs with WT

22 year old who has played 50 games and fallen out of favour at a club badly coached for years. Worth the risk at 400k on a shorter 2 year deal

Yeah we can probably afford to take the risk given the cash we have available, but we need to buy ourselves an insurance policy as a fallback if it doesn't work out. Lolohea at FB with Hopoate in the centres would give us that insurance.

I can't see Hoppa leaving the Dogs if he does he'll go back to Manly. Agree he is a risky proposition and will have to do heap of aerobic work to cut it as a fullback.

Even being 10 kg's overweight I'd still prefer him over the cry baby Moses at the moment

I'd prefer Rankin over Noses the way he played against the Sharks.

Manly are stretched to the limit cap wise unless they unload some other players.

Maybe the change (if he signs) will do him good. Few of those stories mentioned in this thread. Would need a backup plan if it turns south though.

His first half was poor but he was a different player in the second. Showed great footwork and if Ivan can get him fit as well as lose that spare tyre, we may well be on a winner here. A full off season training as fullback and I think we'll have an able replacement for our dear departed chook.

I love how people hear about a player, watch one game, then make their long-term mind up. Played badly for 40 mins, don't bother with him?

Taking certain games out of context, you'd do away with 99% of footballers.

I missed the first half which probably explains why I thought he went okay.

The kids got potential. With the right environment and motivation he could be a star. Ivan will work wonders with him. Get on the bus lolohea we still want you.

Correct

Tui said himself recently he needs to get out of his comfort zone.

If he's serious about his football career and becoming the best he can, then he just might need to peel himself away from friends, family and the Happy Meals and enter a whole new environment.

His biggest asset is his footwork, he needs to run with the ball as much as possible - for this reason he needs to be playing fullback. He needs to trail the forwards looking for offloads and receiving the ball from shifts out on the edges in space. He should be bobbing up over all parts of the field with a license to roam.

Tui reminds me of Ben Barba - similar attributes. Barba was played in the halves when he first entered the NRL and was a bit of a dud. Shifted to fullback he won the Dally M and nearly won a premiership with the Bulldogs, and last year was key member of the Sharks first title.

If Tui's coached to play fullback, and the team structures are built around that, then he just might become a serious x-factor attacking weapon.

Yeah you could tell he still had the footwork last night and he was putting himself in the right positions as a support player, he was just too porky to really hit the accelerator.
