Tuqiri set to stay on at tigers

Lets not forget that part of the Tuqiri signing in 2010 was for promotional reasons and it delivered. There are certain players in Australia that have a following and have developed a name and Lortay is one of these players. Now if he is signed great, but i hope his salary is slashed. We do need some senior players to pass on advice and experience to young players like Koro and Tedesco and Lote has buckets of it.

Don't think so. Lote will be flat out trying to keep these young, eager & electric fast low-paid guys out of his 1st grade spot.

Not moronic.

His age and the amount of footy he has played is going to take a toll. Injuries will take longer to heal and become more frequent at this point, and its not like we are suffering from a dearth of young talent in the outside back department.

I'd agree that Lote at 100% would be a bonus, sadly I just don't know if he can get back there and maintain for 1 or 2 years.

But as always, I'd love to be proven wrong. I was definitely wrong about Utai.

The cost to keep lote on for another 2 years would be more than what Ryan wanted for 3 years!?!?!

Pretty much sums up the culture of WT.
Whereas Utai worked hard & actually earned his contract next year, lote is simply trading off form from years ago…the few times he was available in the past two seasons he was frankly an embarrassment.
What sort of signal/message do you think this sends to the rest of the team about performance & accountability?
No wonder we are where we are

Whats scary is seeing reports about how our players are negotiating while we supposedly have no head coach.

he has been injured. Sorry he couldn't do backflips from the injury bench. An embarrassment? Lol, just like a half/five eight throwing no look balls that come off one on three yet he is worshipped as a king.

We let Ryan go and he has huge promotional potential!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Lote turned 33 just 2 weeks ago! He is too old, too slow, turns like a semi-trailer, takes forever to stand up just to play the ball, is the slowest player in the NRL over the first 10 metres and will never break tackles like Korebeti or Utai, not to mention he is the most injury prone player in the entire club. :bash

Don't even offer a 1 year deal. He gave us one good year in three years. He burdened us with massive hospital and rehab bills, not to mention left us short a player for the remainder of every game he got carried off. He is a massive liability and adds NO value.

The modern game is moving towards powerful wingers that run like an extra forward. It's time to put Lote out to pasture and spend the money more wisely.

Not at all..no-one on this forum will ever deny Benji's raw talent, but his 2012 season was littered with irresponsible attitude & undisciplined behaviour where his primary goal was to get HIMSELF on the evening news hilites reel rather than his TEAM winning football games.
Quite simply he'd bought his own BS,& needed a strong coach to pull him into line.Frankly Benji was far & away Sheens' biggest disappointment of 2012
He(Benji that is) hopefully will get exactly that in 2013,& deliver value yet again for WT
As for Lote, the days of adding value to anyone other than the local medicos are long gone.
For a bloke who has arguably been the highest paid player in either code over the past decade & shld have more than enough $$ to last two lifetimes,if Lote really wants to show he's still got "IT" he shld put his backside on the line with an incentive based contract that pays for performance.
If not,go play Rugby in Japan as hopefully theyre the only mob silly enough to pay him upfront..surely?

Gawd….I dunno.

Where are we heading?

This is one reason I started the WTFC thread.....one of the reasons - the only reason really - I joined Balmain FC was Sheens used to have info sessions pre season each year @ BLC....I found these invaluable and intersting, it gave an insight into what the club had planned for the year ahead, a summary of the year past....

I'd love to hear just what theyre thinking right now, and where they think theyre heading...when we see stories like this coupled with who's been let go, the finances, cap etc etc....so many questions

I'm sorry man I can't understand ur logic, basically it's ok for benji to play for himself because he has raw talent and ir hopefil he will come good, tuqiri on the other hand should be forced into incentive based contract because he had a cast on his arm that caused him a hell of a lot of problems with his ball control. 32 or 26, it's not like u hit 30 and lose it. He's got the speed and the brain, more mature than nofu. 1 yr is nothing, worst case scenario he plays nsw cup. I don't understand the hysteria at us keeping him, two years ago he was the cause of a thread with over 100 pages cause of the love fest with him.
