Turning point... again?

2010:
Round 10 - Embarrassed by South Sydney losing 50 - 10.
After round 10 - 4 wins, 5 loses and 1 bye.
Round 11 - Tigers turn around their season by going into camp in Newcastle and beating the Knights when nobody gave them a chance and then going on to win their next 10 out of 14 games.

2011:
Round 10 - Embarrassed by losing to an injury savaged South Sydney team, losing the first half 27 - 0.
After round 10 - 4 wins, 5 loses and 1 bye.
Round 11 - ?

So after the loss this week it reminded me a lot of last season - so I looked into it and the similarities are quite evident.

The big question is can we do it again? Will this game mark the turning point for the Tigers again? I personally think it can. I think the players will be extremely disappointed with their performance this week and with no Tigers being selected for SOO I think this game will give them even more of an incentive to prove themselves. If we can get this game - with players like Tuqiri, Ellis & Gibbs set to return I think things can start to look up for the Tigers and we will grow in confidence.

if i remember back to last yr i wouldn't say nobody gave them a chance against the Knights…not sure about Lote or Gibbs but Ellis is in England so he won't b playing this week...easy to look at last yr n remind ourselves of wat happened but that has nothing to do with this yr....i know its easy to play the blame game when they're losing n easy to stick the foot in but the culture has to change at the club...to many players r to chummy n comftable with the coach n i feel the place is divided into clicks...i don't wanna start another whole debate on Sheens but it almost comes across like he's to much of a father figure n not much of an authorative figure

I wilh you Luke , lets all go put to freezing Campbelltown on Saturday night and cheers the lads on to the start of a great winning streak

This Saturday night will definitely be a test. The Tigers are not at full strength, but neither are Penrith. The Tigers do have their spine intact though - Marshall, Farah, Lui and McKinnon, and they, along with everyone else in the team need to turn talk into action out on the field.

Generally when the Tigers defence is aiming up, they play well and they are going to have to this weekend. It's a home game and Penrith have not been in good form this season despite flogging Brisbane last week.

Time for the Tigers to aim up.

We had our spine intact last week also Willow, and we were completely ambushed. Only Wade Mac stood up to be counted for the whole 80 minutes.

Another game that we probably should win comfortably . But we have had many of those in the last few years and we fail to step up to the plate . The Tigers asked their fans To STEP UP . Now its the players turns to STEP UP . C'mon guys just show some passion on Saturday thats all we ask !!!

Nobody gave us a chance against the Knights last year?

the disappointing thing is that, seeing the parallels with last year, the players didn't recognise it BEFORE the Souths game and come ready to play.

It would be good if that theory will work again for us this season, but it's a different team, and I think a few problems in the camp, but we should remain positive 😛ray:

Yeah I know mate, but we all know the Tigers were not there mentally while Souths were, and they paid the price. As long as the team comes out switched on and not in la la land, then they should go well. For a team that talks about playing finals football and giving the comp a shake, they should be mentally ready every week and not every second or third week like we are currently seeing, that's what frustrates me the most.

Great time to play Penrith (one of the teams we struggle against) with injuries to key players plus players missing for SOO.

Need to watch out for Luke Lewis (great player and should have been picked for SOO).

Need to be switched on from the opening whistle.

Defence is the key. Attack will take care of itself.

Weren't the knight missing gidley and Mullen?

Don't think No one gave us a chance.

We played terrible and scraped in a win

I think you're forgetting the media beat up we got after the Souths game. Despite the Knights injuries they were favourites solely due to how bad we played the week before and how inconsistent our season was already at that point - not many people were willing to back us. Anyway that wasn't so much the point, the point was can this game be the turning point and the kick start we need again… That's all I'm saying.

The motto after the corresponding round last year became…win ugly...win at all costs.

We still had some very average performances after that but we were scraping over the line and slowly but surely everything started to click.

I can't see why this can't be a similar turning point, apart from that Lawrence and Lote had a lot to do with us getting those scrappy wins.

The boys should realise they are in the same boat as this time last year but are going to paddle even harder with key players missing. We just need to stay in the hunt and look for a big finish to the season.

It really does suck that EVERY year we have to have a turning point in our season.

The top sides hardly ever have to rely on this to make the 8.

Having said that we are supposedly getting some cattle back this week so I'll be pencilling us in for a win.
