Just a few comments on a couple of things that have
Until we stop making excuses, we won't get out of this rut we are in. It is 'concerning' when management keeps mumbling reasons why we are not winning games...and why the coach can stay...rather than aggressively demanding success and making sure people are accountable.

Accountability is a myth in the NRL.
It starts and ends with the coach. Players rarely get dropped and if some do in an attempt to look like there’s accountability they quickly return because there’s never adequate depth. The reality is, if you’ve got an average squad like ours, dogs etc, to make players accountable you’d have to almost drop the entire squad-and for a decent amount of time. No clubs going to do that as firstly, you can’t play that many reserve graders at the same time in first grade and secondly, you saw what happens when you have too many reserve graders in a first grade team.

So, let's leave LL out there for 80 mins even though he is absolutely out on his feet after 30?

Let's not drop Nofa...despite him having years and years to show improved D, but still making the exact same errors?

Let's leave Brooksy to badly run the team each week?

Bennet left out Origin players this year and played state cup players...so that the senior players knew they were on notice. He dropped Sua and Mansour and picked kids. He made them accountable.

Accountability is easy on paper.

Mansour is literally South’s weakest player. IMO he had an awful game on the weekend and should be dropped again if there is someone better. I can’t compare him to Noffa because he is in our top half of Tigers players, attitude and all : and that’s not a good thing.

So you drop all those players and replace them with who? The reserve graders who haven’t played for how many games? Our bench on the weekend had 30 games between them.

Madge gave simpkin a crack early in the season and he threw 3 forward passes in 20 minutes. Gave Cini a crack and got the yips in his 2nd match. Unfortunately our depth isn’t quite ready for the step up into NRL.

I am struggling to identify players who have tangibly improved under Madge?

For clarities sake I am defining improvement as being able to put natural talent into practice more consistently or effectively.

Let’s consider our top 4 players this year in terms of hype.

Stefano
Laurie
Doueihi
Lurch

Would you say the four put their natural talent into practice more effectively?

Would you say the four put their natural talent into practice more consistently?

Not at all!

Not at all! 😅😂🤣

Biggest myth is that the players are not the fault. Not sure who is out there wearing the jersey then.

If Bellemy had our team would they play like this?

No, they wouldn't.

Yeah they would ..
This group would break Bellamy.

If you swapped the 2 coaches and Bellamy and his staff had us and Madge and his staff had Melbourne initially there would be no real change but i reckon within 1 season you would see the improvement in us and the deterioration of melbourne.

9th - and i'm not just saying that as a joke. If we win the next 2 we will more than likely finish 9th.

Quite possibly you are correct but in fairness you could make that comment in regards to every other coach switching with Bellamy. He is far ahead of every other coach in the game imho.

All this talk of a rebuild would indicate that we are actually building on something. We still don't have an identity. I don't think the players who run on to the field know which type of football they want to play or which type of a club they represent.

I think we are in the process of still setting up a club pretty much from scratch. The only headstart we have is that there are 20 odd thousand members already rooting for them.

We need to get out of the minusses first.

The other thing people forget in this particular scenario is,Bellamy has been at the Storm for 20 years,he has built a system that is one of the best in rugby league history...I could go and coach Storm with the great system in place....
Madge came here when the place was a rabble after Ivan tried to buy a premiership and blew the budget, our junior pathways were ignored,we had players constantly sidelined that were meant to be our core of the team and the guy who kept pouring us on the bus left us on it without fuel and absconded to greener pastures...
So even though people tell me Im a Madge lover,I really want the guy to be a success,he took on a job Bennett and Bellamy wouldnt go near.....
