Im actually quite chuffed about this, you could play him literally anywhere and he is something that is rare today, a true footballer, and a great competitor, we can defo use some spark that he has!!

We currently don't have a capable lock so I would assume the best value would be for him to play lock.

Would have been better 6 years ago probably to be fair. We tried to not be a retirement club. But hey hope he has a good couple of years (at lock)

2 years and not a bad price, yeah not too bad at all really.

What was the price ??

reported $750 for 2 years

For a 30 year old utility .....thank God the club has decided not to pay overs or get flustered into making rash signings ......

Screwed the pooch again ...yay

Salary cap is 10mil. Take out extra 400 for mbye we have 320k per player on average. His price seems fair to me for a solid, average 1st grader.

I reckon he improves our creativity a lot and we have a far more dangerous team looming next year.

13 Peachey, 7 Hastings, 6 Brooks, then Gildart and Dooee in the centres, our two wingers and Laurie...that's a def improve

You think 375k per year is too much for him?

Aged 24-28 .....maybe ...and he is a utility ....plays many positions ...masters none .....we have paid overs 300-320 yep fine ......and before someone says its only a 55 k a years .....you pay that much overs and suddenly you lose 500 k ....look at what player you can get for 500 k .......especially back rower wise ...centre wise ....

Agree with that. In the past we would of paid the 500 for Peachy now, so I’m comfortable.

I was hoping for under $350k, though media figures usually seem to be inflated so I am ok with this signing.

You think 375k per year is too much for him?

300-320 max ......he is 30 ...more succeptible to injuries ....doesn't have a set position ......and we probably need a 13 who can pump out big minutes and 40 plus tackles with our current defence ...he brings some attacking threats granted ...but we need to defend 200 % better than we currently are ...

Peachy and Hastings Mbye and Billy Walters.

That's a good way to look at it. Fair.

Mbye is far better than Hastings as a 6 .....and 9 for that matter ..way better defender

Of course the money is probably a little bit overs for Peach, but we cant click our fingers and fix a problem. No one is coming here for market rate and we need to rebuild the roster, be more competitive and slowly turn the ship around. In the short term we need to pay overs to improve the roster. Over paying $50k-$100k is low pain at this stage.

I like this signing. Having a third prop/middle forward as a lock is outdated.

I’m nervous about this sentiment. There are a handful of clubs that are making a small lock work. The clubs that have a small lock have the luxury of a dominant pack. The two most successful teams have Finucane/NAS at lock and the likes of Yeo.

Our pack gets dominated most games (ultimately) , I’m not sure one less big body will help us.

Doesn't matter how big or small your lock is as long as they can distribute the ball. Ideally you have big strongp forward who does it like Yeo who does it for Penrith and Welch who does it for Storm. Peachey in a team like ours will get caught out defensively a lot I feel

Peachey's missed tackle stats were pretty bad in some games this year.

He will fit right in then

Sorry happy I disagree there. MBye might make good contact but positionally he can be out of place. I think we will notice an organisational difference in defence with Hastings in the side.

But the comparison If fair should be
Hastings replacing Walters
Peachy replacing MBye.

With that I will agree that Mbyes defence is better.

I can see why you’re nervous about having a smaller body in the pack but one of Yeo’s strengths is his passing game, playing the link between both sides of the field. Finucane is a bigger body but the storm often shift Smith into the lock role when Grant comes on. He’s smaller but brings a lot more energy.

I think most of the top teams like Souths, Roosters and Panthers have a lock with some mobility and skill. In saying that I think we’re short an enforcer in the pack and would love to have an aggressive edge back rower that leads line speed and puts pressure on opposition halves.

Wel we have a lot more spaces yet to fill. One of those could be the enforcer in the pack.

The other thing that hasn’t been mentioned is the possibility of Peachy and Laurie striking up a really good instinctive duo on the field.
Peach looked really good around the middle in the last few with Campbell out the back.
