I have no problems giving him that salary for 2 years... He will want to play well to extend his stay and get a job in the club after footy.. Well Played Tigers

Yeah that's not a bad deal and he gives some versatility to the side. Fair chance to start next season in the centres IMO.

welcome Peach. fingers crossed your addition is a welcome one. brings a lot of experience and utility value.

Doubt it. Club didn't even mention it as a position he plays. I'd have thought if the club saw him playing there they would've at least mentioned it there. Possibly not but.

I think Madge goes down the path of no position is guaranteed and you earn that position.. I like this but works better when you have a team of good players and not reserved grade cover players

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce the signing of experienced utility Tyrone Peachey, effective immediately.

The two-year deal will see the former Origin representative join the club for the start of the 2022 NRL season and remain in Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2023 season.

Having originally started his career at Cronulla in 2013, Peachey joined Penrith in 2014 and played in 109 games for the Panthers before linking up with the Gold Coast Titans in 2019, with whom he went on to play a further 62 matches.

He has chalked up numerous representative achievements including three games for New South Wales Origin (2018) and six games for the Indigenous All Stars (2015-17, 19-21), as well as appearances for New South Wales City Origin and the Prime Minister’s XIII.

Capable of playing at lock, second row or in the halves, Peachey provides great experience and versatility for the club in 2022 and expressed his excitement to make an impact at Wests Tigers.

“I’m really excited to join the club and get stuck into work with Wests Tigers,” Peachey said.

**“I’ve been really impressed by Madge and the way he approaches the game and I’m looking forward to working under him. I know that I perform my best when I’ve got a strong coach who can keep me accountable, and I’ve really enjoyed speaking with him lately.**

“I’m pretty keen to work too with a lot of the young talent at the club,” he said.

“I’ve been through the process of seeing young players step up into the NRL and what needs to change for the club to be successful. It’s a good chance for me to not only help on the field but also give the young players some direction and help this team play finals footy.

“Wests Tigers is a big club and a pretty special club with its history — it deserves to be competing in the big games every year and I can’t wait to help us do that.”

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire said Peachey would be a strong addition for the club.

“I’m really pleased to welcome Tyrone to our team and to have his experience and versatility as part of our club,” Maguire said.

“Tyrone is a real competitor in all that he does on and off the field, and he will add a lot to the way that we want to play moving forward.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe officially welcomed Peachey to the club.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to welcome Tyrone and his family to the club and say how pleased we are to have secured him for the coming two years,” Pascoe said.

“Tyrone’s experience as an NRL player will be invaluable to our team. We have been disciplined and intentional with our recruitment of players to the club, and Tyrone’s signing is another example of that.

“We’re excited to have him join Wests Tigers and look forward to him adding to our club.”

Having finished his playing contract with the Gold Coast Titans at the end of the 2021 season, Peachey will link up with Wests Tigers immediately and will join his new teammates for pre-season training in November.

Is it really a 2 year contract, or one of those deals where the second year is in the clubs favour which isn’t disclosed in the announcement?

It's 2 years..Peachey will remain until at least the end od 2023 is in the Announcement..

The options only came about in signing announcements this season..see Roberts official announcement and that of Tuilagi's upgrade..

If anything I feel he was signed to play a ball playing lock role regardless of whether that was what Hastings was also told.

Pic showed him holding the 13 jersey.

Hope so. Hope he makes it his own for the next 2 years. Also hoping this means that we **don't** sign Elliot now :hand_with_index_and_middle_fingers_crossed: .

The only reason I haven't been more a fan of Peachey is because I always thought he lacked some drive and faded in and out of games.
So I hope this more mature version does realise he needs to be on more than off, and does indeed respond to a coach that wants 100% from him at all times. If we get that it could be a really good signing.

A couple of 'ifs', I know. But welcome Tyrone, and dig deep for us!

Didn’t realise he was 30 turning 31 next year. Thought he was like 26/27. Oh well

Cliffy played until he was 63. The peach may have another 30 seasons in him.

He HAS to play lock for us. Clearly his best position and it's the position we need him in most

Don't want to see him filling in at centre, in the halves or off the bench. Needs to play 13 every week as a ball playing lock and needs to not take a spot from any young talent we have

If Madge can figure that out he'll be alright for us

For a 30 year old utility .....thank God the club has decided not to pay overs or get flustered into making rash signings ......

Screwed the pooch again ...yay

Welcome to the club!!
I'm personally pleased with the signing.
We've one of the most inexperienced teams/spines in the comp that struggle with the fundamentals due to this.
Regardless of how he goes, adding experience and versatility is pivotal for boosting the team's progression, morale and consistency.
Congrats Madge, Hartigan and WTs for addressing our biggest weakness.
Onto the next one please.
