Tyson Gamble Debut

"WESTS Tigers will hand an NRL debut to talented playmaker Tyson Gamble on Sunday.

Foxsports.com.au understands Gamble is set to be brought into the starting halves.

It’s unknown how the shuffle will work, although it’s likely Josh Reynolds will shift to hooker in place of Elijah Taylor.

It means Gamble will line up at five-eighth alongside halfback Luke Brooks.

Gamble played with veteran Kiwi halfback Benji Marshall at Redcliffe in the Q Cup last year.

It was Marshall who convinced the Tigers to take a gamble and bring the 21-year-old south on an NRL deal this year, but he is yet to play a game.

Marshall was glowing of Gamble when speaking to NSWRL earlier in the season.

“He’s a quality runner of the ball,” Marshall said.

The Tigers are juggling their spine without a recognised hooker.

There’s reports Robbie Farah could be on his way back to Concord before June 30 to fill the void.

Marshall is currently injured."

Awesome news … I'm thinking that Ivan will use his short kicking game to make the big Canberra forwards do a lot of running backwards .... let's see

I thought he may have come off the bench but it looks like a reshuffle and Tyson is straight in to 5/8.

When Mbye arrives, I reckon that he could work very well with Gamble … along with his short kicking game, last year in Qld he demonstrated a very good short passing game and I have not seen it utilised in the ISP - let me clarify, living in Qld, I have not seen it on TV. If we can get an edge forward, the likes of big lanky Garner, then with Gamble's size, running and short kicking game Gamble can pose a real threat to other teams. I would love to see Mbye and Garner running off him. He will also work very will with Brooks - and he does not have an oversized ego. I think that it is exciting news.

Wishing Gamble all the best. Take the opportunity with both hands.

Wonder who drops of the bench. Tim Grant or Killa?

If all goes well he will definitely help Brooks out as well, it will allow Brooks to take control and own this team.

Ive seen the short balls you are talking about, perhaps it might open it up for Lawrence as well. He would work well with that kind of 5/8\. He threatens the line a little more than Benji so that opens it up for the second rower to hit the hole.

Good luck to Gamble, but for me this reshuffle doesn't make any sense. I don't see the point of shifting Reynolds to 9, especially if the reports of Robbie returning are true. I'm all for him getting a crack, but this just seems odd to me.

Absolutely, last year he always took on the line and was always a threat because of it. It was also the case early this year and Hodgo acknowledged that fact. When he runs straight and has options his size and ability to break the line will be a menace to other teams. Along with that I agree that he will work very well with Brooks - he does not have an oversized ego and will let Brooks take charge of the team. When he played in the trial against the Cowboys he was always talking to Brooks … and that, for me, is a good sign.

As it is his debut I have no doubt that Ricky will target him with some of his big boys. His first game of many more to come ....

Lawrence has improved enormously this year, but his short/long kicking game? Ball handling? Tippy-toe footwork?
Lateral movement? Please :brick:

Agreed. All the dynamics are there for a Brooks and Gamble duo to be our best option. Its really up to Tyson and how quickly he comes up to NRL speed. His defence needs some work but could be better with an NRL structure around.

For me the main issue is he has to push past the Benji and Reynolds are in front of me mind set and just go for it. He might not have an oversized ego but he needs a winners ego to make the most of this opportunity.

Im excited to watch it unfold.

This is a move that states our season is over and we have no finals expectations.

Hope Gamble makes the most of this.
Wish him the best, get to see how he plays with the big boys. Hopefully better than his cup performances.
