Tyson Gamble Debut

Didn't understand the hype from watching him all season. Obviously the step up to NRL made him look even worse -especially behind a team so outclassed. A few points I noted were:
-The difference a quality D/H makes to a team - we were extremely poor in this area and more so once MM went off.
-Lawrence off the field makes our back row look very ordinary
-poor game plan - we did not use the wind in the first half
-I disagree that Brooks was terrible - he made one glaringly poor attempt at tackle on our line that caused a try. Otherwise he tried his heart out chasing everyone in D and got very little help at all. His kicking game wasn't too bad.
-Both Fonua and Masters can be poor defenders at times and our wingers are extremely average in comparison to most of the decent teams.
-Finally, it is pretty clear that we have zero in terms of running/mobile back rowers (apart from Lawrence), Raiders forwards absolutely ran rings around us.

Good summation…100% right :frowning:

Nah he is just being singled out and judged to a different standard to the other players

Gee imagine discussing Gamble in a thread about Gamble…who'd of thought...

You'd be better of hitting up Demps with that post. He is the one wanting the thread shut down lol.

What I said here is fair comment. Do you have any moments in the game that I should be looking more closely at?

All im hearing is a general the guy doesn't fill me with confidence type of thing, no actual game moments or line breaks etc.

Forum police, lol ?

Are u Gambles boyfriend?

Interesting comment. I had my suspicions why you hated the guy so much, confirmed now.

So you're both patriotic and a proud rainbow flag bearer?
Im no homophobe mate. I voted yes for u fellas.

Ok enough is enough.

As ive said earlier i still think he will make a quality first grader. He is made of the right kind of material and he has all the attributes needed to be a big strong ball running 5/8.

Coming from a background of watching guys like Wally Lewis run around in the old QLD Cup to seeing the progression of big 5/8 like Fitler, Daley etc its good to see one pop up in our system.

Its exciting.

Moving on to other topics now, ill leave the rest to Tyson.

Yes well I do..When Whitehead made the break off the short kick off…that resulted in the no try...when Liam Knight threw the looooooong ball for a TRY..3 more in the 1st half on BJ and 1 on Austin where basically Tyson shook hands with them..

but that's OK he will play in the centres now Fonua is more than likely gone for the season..so he will get plenty more opportunities to work on it..

Not one of the most memorable debuts for sure. I've watched him play several times this season and while he does well enough in ISP - in attack, he has quite a way to go to make FG a regular gig. I'd prefer to see Lolo get a run at 6 over Gamble. Fullback isn't Lolo's position, but he showed last year he can be a decent 6, and at the moment he's better than Gamble.

lolo would have been better at 5/8, he was great there last year.

Agree

…..with hindsight

Its easy to make these claims after yesterdays results

If we had won by 2 we might have praised all the players

Tui is fortunate not to have played, as is most of us are not happy with his efforts and we would have crucified him for our failure from last night

X2
Agree

Like you I'm moving on and I'll also leave it to Tyson …. we return to the Tui X-factor love-fest

Felt a bit sorry for the kid … his teammates sure didn't do him any favours helping him through his first grade debut.

Tyson had all of the 1st half to stamp his name on the game
He failed

We only lost the 2nd half
The young lad made some very poor choices in the 1st half and there is no hiding from that unfortunately

Poor kid.

Would definitely give him another go if required. Nerves would have had the best of him.

He really needs to get the ‘benji’ out of his game tho. Kicking on the 3rd…to himself? multiple times????

I don't think he was nervous.
I like the fact he tried things off his own bat… Shows confidence just lacking execution.
He may have felt lonely out there Brooks didn't/couldnt seem to help him.
Junior development isn't about dumping rookies after the team gets 40+ put on them... It's about learning, gaining confidence, experience and getting up to 1st grade fitness level

JCf82: I wouldn't call his form in reggies "amazing"

I think the extremely high level of constantly hyping him up from a few on here may have led some to have high expectations on him. I mentioned some time ago these people are just putting pressure on him... They don't learn

He probably deserves a 2nd chance , but he would want to perform far ,far better
