he's failed to get the players to buy in and they look like a team who are disinterested. Getting booed off the field at half-time obviously gave them some motivation but that should come from the coach. They look like they do not want to play for him. He's not a people person. His way will not work in this day and age and it is showing.

Main responsibility goes to the players please do not give them an out, just no enthusiasm in the first 20 when that should be the time they are all over the cows in defence

absolutely the main problem is the players but IMO, it's not lack of talent. Look at what Griffin has done with the Dragons. On paper, their side isn't what you'd call great but they all turned up and put in 100% and dominated an undefeated heavyweight. We were smashed in the first half by the worst side in the competition.
Madge's methods will not work on today's young men. He has shown that he is not a man manager and needs to change his approach.

Honestly i think emotions are getting the better of you.Tommy was a great player even if he never played for my club but he really had a poor record as a club coach.Pearce was the better of the 2 even if he wasnt good either and i have no idea why you bring up his son.
Mate we are all annoyed/frustrated after a very poor performance today and i am honestly starting to wonder if all the media build up and players and fans expectations over T.Raudonikas tragic death have not played a part in that diabolical first half.
Anyway i will undoubtedly be here next week having a moan about next weeks efforts.WT is part of my DNA and will be to the day i die.

His son well like mine does not watch anymore because we just cannot perform, wife gets annoyed sometimes as the way the team performs changes my general mood.

Good on you i wont be watching next week however, will only watch a game the rest of the season if nothing else on better things to do in future until we start making finals.

Hang in there,i certainly know what you mean by game wins/losses changes your mood.I am honestly not sure how many more years i will be around(health) but i hope to see at least 1 more premiership than the 2 i have seen 1969 2005.

Nope made up my mind at the start of this new season winning 1/5 means little chance of finals again, i am not wasting my time on a team that cannot perform, and a coach that tactically has no idea.

When we start looking at playing finals again i will jump on the band wagon again like lots of non diehard supporters and wont be renewing my membership next season.

Over all the hype of this club and the way they perform.

As I have alluded to in other threads, there are a number of guys in this team that have clearly demonstrated they can't defend, yet they still get picked in the side every week.

No team, in 100 plus years of footy, has had a run of high scores like that 15 games straight. No one can really argue that the defensive line is failing badly.

We can debate the reasons, but ultimately it is on Madge. In those games, half the players have changed...but the results don't change. It is his system...he needs to own this and proactively change his structures / bench use / methods.

Just can't defend the edges

Our edge defence starts in the middle; we're not holding the middle which then drags players in to cover leaving overlaps wide.

If you analysed every (wide) try tonight I'll guarantee there was an overlap. We're also very susceptible to an offload - we don't lock up the ball well enough..

We're regularly short on both edges so either the defensive structure is wrong or we're simply not able to implement it.

Excellent analysis mate.

Twal came in several times today last man and went low when the ball was in a carrying arm...he had a clear shot at the ball, but left it. One led straight to a try. Same last week.

Either he (and most of them) don't understand how to play D (hard to believe) or they are coached not to wrap up the ball.

I couldnt be bothered reading through all the expert analisis of todays loss....all of a sudden its sack Madge, the D is disgraceful,no middle go forward etc etc etc ...
Why hasnt anyone bagged Hartigan, he is the recruitment guru,Pascoe he is ceo and I thought all made desicions to benefit the club...
Lets blame the coach for players that havent got the intestinal fortitude or brains to play NRL,but just be show ponies because they have a contract with an NRL club..
Sign a contract and get paid every week win ,lose ,or draw...as long as I get paid...

should go back to the old traditional days of real RUGBY LEAGUE ,,,win you get paid loss or draw you get nothing....watch their attitude change real quick...

REAL RUGBY LEAGUE PLAYERS LIKE T.RAUDONIKAS ARE HEROS,,,NRL players are show ponies in a stage show, turn up each week, poor or good performance and get paid....JOKE....

"All of a sudden"......you lost me there mate. It has been 18 games straight.

Defend the coach if you want, but ultimately it is his job to coach them / teach them. I am probably as old as you sound, so I appreciate the old style motivation stuff you suggest...

But it is 2021. It does not work.

Yes your right ,but how many players have we turned over to get the ones we need...everbody said at the preseason how well the club has done cleaning out the cupboard and recruiting well.....it doesnt show on the scoreboard mate, and I have been around for a while and played the game...blame the coach all you like.if the cattle arent good enough they will show the coach up...who would want to be an NRL coach these days with the pussie blokes they have to coach...

I agree some are soft, but I also that many look clueless. Like they clearly don't know where to stand or what to do.

Classic case is Nofa...he was grounded on kicks last week. He did not leave the ground.

A good coach would have had a word and made sure he fixed that this week.

But, no, he stood with both feet planted and was out jumped. He was targeted all first half by glaring flaws that Toddy had seen / Madge has never addressed. Ultimately, that stuff is actually what a coach is paid to do.

Wrong mate...Noffa is an NRL winger that has been in the system for many years...he has to know his job by now...its like a mechanic not knowing where the starter motor is.....dont keep blaming Madge for the players deficiencies ...watch the Rorters or Storm, each player knows there job...
You and others dislike for Madge is glaringly open for all to see ...search the real reason our team is they way it is and compare our players to the top 4 teams...then you may wake up mate...

Your logic is flawed on just about every level. Nofa failed to jump last few weeks on kicks, but as he has been around for a while and 'should' know what do...it is not Madge's fault. So, why even have a coach?

And I don't 'dislike' Madge...why would I? He comes across as a genuine bloke. But pointing out his record 'is' justified. Just as I would praise him if we had a historically good defense. You can't use the "well we don't have top 4 system" also...even the very bottom teams historically have not had this long a run of points against.

There is no dislike, but it needs to be discussed.

We are 3 and 15 since mid last season...and conceded a 100 year worst level of scores...

Yet, we should not question the coach?

What if the players all held hands and moved up together as one ?
Would that work ?
Might find it hard to slide if one falls over !

Have a good idea who'll be the first one to fall over.

Who you reckon ?

I actually did that at an U/8s training session for the whole period,i got lots of complaints from the kids but they got the message.I didnt need to repeat it during the year the kids gave the slow ones heaps on the field if they were lagging.

Madge says all the right things. Reality is he can't make it happen.

That first half made it pretty obvious the boys aren't playing for him. A full house at Leichhardt, the emotion surrounding Tommy and playing a Cowboys side that has had a tonne of last minute changes and he can't get them up for it.

Defense is poor, attack is worse. I'm failing to see any evidence of quality coaching at all. This team has gotten worse under Maguire's guidance.

If Newcastle had a decent kicker they get 26 no problem. Latrell could score 26 on his own next week.

Mental note ...make Latrell fantasy captain
