Under 20s State of Origin

Just goes to show the difference between Toyota Cup and first grade. Thought Groat tackled well when on the field. Miller didn't really stand out IMO.

Miller defended well on his side, kicked pretty well and directed attack, in a sloppy game which wouldn't have been easy to set up attack. His role was shared a bit by the 5/8 from Penrith in terms of kicking game so he'd didn't get the chance to totally dominate but then again he should be used to that when he plays in our first grade.

Groat was busy when on the field particularly in defence, didn't impact much in attack like a couple of the other forwards like Evans from the roosters, but Groat didn't have a bad game by any means and would benefit from spending some more time in the 20s to regain confidence and strengthen his attacking game concentrating on bending the opposition line and maybe the odd offload.

Good post, but he was always going to come from the bench in firsts….no more 20s for him....our recruitment or lack of it has stuffed him around.
I'd play him in State Cup toughen him up more, if we had the luxury........but we dont

Agreed, recruitment and injuries have meant more has been asked of Groat than should have been at his stage of his development. This is why he should be supported by the club and us supporters imo he is holding up an end as best he can ina difficult period for the club.

Provided Galloway and Woods are fit, I think we could use a front row rotation of Moors and Cashmere, allowing Groat to drop back to the NYC for development, plus it would certainly add some size to the squad. In the event of injuries, then look at calling him up. More than likely won't happen like this, but I think it would be better for his overall development.

Guys i missed the game due to other commitments but had the baby blues being the talk of the (late) party.

does anyone think it was enough for Miller to take confidence from and look like being ready for the step up to the first grade No. 7?

Agree totally Groat is not ready for first grade Moors is a much better option

He wasn't a 'star' but he played a good game as per the coaches instruction imo so he should gain confidence and considering he was selected as one of the two best half backs in the comp should say something about his form. NRL is a big step up but he didn't do anything to say he shouldn't be given a go again if the opportunity arises again.

Thoroughly enjoyed the match …. I thought Groat went Ok .... Would stick with him in first grade but
Starting from the bench.

Absolute crap game. I did not see one backline movement from the NSW side.

They (whoever "they" are) gave the 'man of the match' to the Penrith 5/8, who, in my opinion and some others,
was one of the worst players on the field. Bad kicking game, missed tackles and shocking offloads. Miller had no chance to get into the game at all.

Groat was great in defence and was one if not the only NSW forward to not drop the ball.

Crap game, crap coaching and crap players. The W/T's or Canterbury under 20's would have beaten either side.

Have to agree with you col about the man of the match award, I nearly fell off my chair when I heard it.
