Would be a shame to lose Humble.

The Tigers have an option on Humble for next year. Whether they choose to use it is anyone's guess at this stage.

if the option is just a generic one, it is no longer in our favour.

the same with matt bell.

I don't think Lote will return, with those 2 new wingers/centres, koroibete and noafoalama (excuse the spelling)
Also Lote is earning 400k a year? We can buy better players with that.

i don't know about Tom Humble, but the option in the Clubs favour for Bell expired on June 1st.

whilst we did have the option in our favour, once the deadline passed, it's no longer in our favour ! Matt is now able to negotiate with other clubs

we can't sign players on a 2 year deal, option in our favour, but then decide we don't want them ? the player has to be able to secure a contract for next season before other clubs finalise their roster !!

I'd love to see Lote move into a coaching role and free up some place for the junior fellas to have a burn.. would keep him though if he took a pay cut. he's a marquee player and is finding his form again finally IMO

I also don't see Utai being that effective for much longer. he burned out so bad at the end of last year I don't think he has the gas to go around for another full season..

hoping we keep john grant and humble around as I think they've still got something to add to the team.

Moltzen is the big one for next year though. we've got such a loaded backline I'm not sure where he will fit in but I would be trying to keep him and have him battle it out with tedesco for the full-back spot.

Just one point I would like to make - big fan of Koroibete but he is as raw as they come and certainly can make the odd mistake in defence.

Now that will of course most likely be improved with some NRL experience but he still needs to get that experience.

I would offer Lote and Utai one year contracts - chances are injuries will occur anyway and the younger guys can get an opportunity with less pressure on them.

If either of the youngsters is seen as the "Lote replacement" come round one next year I think unfair comparisons will be drawn.

So what you are saying, If the option in the clubs flavour expires and the player cannot find another club, like in Bells case, he remains at WT?

MORE than 50 NRL stars will be playing for their futures in coming weeks as clubs finalise their rosters for next season, including some players under contract for next year and beyond.

As clubs juggle their salary caps to accommodate new recruits, the likes of **Wests Tigers utility Tom Humble**, South Sydney back Fetuli Talanoa, Parramatta props Justin Poore and Shane Shackleton, Canterbury second-rower David Stagg and Newcastle forward Richie Fa'aoso are set to move on.

The Bulldogs have the most players off contract, with 11 still unsigned, while Newcastle and Penrith also have a large number of players yet to resolve their futures.

All three clubs have new coaches this season, and Des Hasler, Wayne Bennett and Ivan Cleary are still shaping their teams.

After five consecutive losses, Knights chairman Paul Harragon said yesterday all players were ''on notice'' and rival club officials have told the Herald that some Newcastle players were being shopped around - including backs Wes Naiqama and Junior Sa'u, who are both contracted for next season.

Canberra chief executive Don Furner said the Raiders had been offered the services of up to 20 players, including some available to join the club before the June 30 deadline for mid-season transfers.

''We've been offered probably 15 to 20 players … [including] quite a few from Newcastle,'' Furner told ABC Radio. ''Some are talking about trying to move before June 30 this year.

''We have got to sit down with the coaching staff and go through a few of those names. There will be more names that get thrown up too, so we are not in a hurry.''

**Furner said the Raiders may be interested in Humble, who is off contract at the Tigers this season, along with fellow utility Tim Moltzen and wingers Lote Tuqiri and Matt Utai.**

Shackleton, who is out of favour at the Eels, has been linked with a move to Penrith, who have already signed Melbourne forward Sika Manu, Cowboys hooker James Segeyaro, Warriors back-rower Lewis Brown and Manly centre Dean Whare.

The Knights are still trying to bolster their under-performing squad this year and have been linked to Poore, who is off contract this year but is being shopped around in the hope of a pre-June 30 release.

However, any chance of the Knights recruiting another player this season would hinge on them offloading the likes Fa'aoso or Evarn Tuimavave, or possibly both, due to the salary-cap implications.

The Herald understands Tuimavave was set to take up an immediate offer to play in England but the move fell through.

Harragon, who led the Knights to the 1997 premiership, said yesterday that Bennett had warned all of the players that their performances were under review.

''I think you'll find it with a lot of coaches. Even Ivan Cleary's doing the same thing [at Penrith],'' Harragon told Newcastle radio station KO-FM yesterday.

''You get to the point where you work with blokes, you do this, you do that, and the final result is: 'Hey guys, everyone's on notice. If you're not coming my way … '. He [Cleary] has had to drop all his senior players.

''Wayne's gone in the same direction, just saying: 'You guys are all on notice, this is the way we've got to go, come online and let's do it.'''

Naiqama is in the first year of a new three-year contract, and Sa'u is contracted until the end of next year but it is believed the Knights would consider releasing the pair, who have spent most of the season in NSW Cup, if another club was interested.

Forwards Chris Houston and Willie Mason remain unsigned beyond this year but have been two of the team's most consistent performers and the Knights hope to retain them.

McKinnon departs

Wade McKinnon's attempt to resurrect his NRL career at the Wests Tigers has failed, with the former Eels and Warriors fullback officially calling an end to his 10-year NRL career. After departing for the English Super League last season, McKinnon parted ways with Hull FC just five months into a three-year deal and almost made a shock return to the NRL with the Tigers last month. Instead, the keen aviator will focus on a career as a pilot with the hope of flying for a commercial airline. And while the Tigers weren't able to squeeze McKinnon into their cap, **back-rower Matthew Bell looks set to extend his contract with the club. Teammate Junior Moors is also on the hunt for a new contract at Concord Oval.**

Hope that Bell does get a contract as he has been very good for us this season but I fail to see where he will fit into the team next year with Pettybourne, Thompson and a number of young guns hopefully coming through the ranks.

…. so does that mean Moops is looking at being signed by the tigers, or Moops WANTS TO STAY at the tigers?

two very different things, and the wording was ambiguous.

I think it means he wants to stay but the club didn't take up their option by the due date.
Big decision to be made who gets signed next, looks like the club knows most want to stay and will stay for less than they can get elsewhere.
Only so much money to go around some are going to be very disappointed.

Moors wants to stay @ the Tigers is how i read it.

Interesting -

we (as a group, myself included) perceive bad treatment on the forums due to players not getting a crack, yet the administration must be doing something right behind the scenes if so-called "hard done by" players want to stay….

isn't that right Tiger99?

Tough decisions to be made shortly, we can't resign everyone
My Top 4 to be resigned
1\. Matt Uta
2\. Matt Bell
3\. Matt Groat
4\. Tom Humble
And good luck to
5\. Jacob Miller, Tim Moltzen or Lote Tuqiri
6\. Junior Moors, Ray Cashmere or Shaun Spence
7\. Pat Politoni, Dane Chisholm, Tim Simona or Sean Meaney
No but thanks for 2012 : John Grant and Jack Spencer

Since doing this list only Moltzen has been resigned after 3000 mentions in the media of him looking to secure his future. Tuqiri is the only other person mentioned in the media at length. Humble and Miller have had small mentions.

With now the possibility of Luke Lewis in 2013 I am surprised the mangers of players like Groat, Bell and Utai have not been talking their players up as "looking to go to the UK" or "considering Union" or their love for the Tigers and wanting to stay.

No but thanks for 2012 : John Grant and Jack Spencer now joined by Jacob Miller, Lote Tuqiri, Shaun Spence, Ray Cashmere, Pat Politoni, Tim Simona and Sean Meaney
