Utai?

Just wondering does anyone know if he is staying for season 2012?
I thought he was only signed for 2011.
He has surprised me this season, I think he played pretty well and he only adds depth to the squad.

IMO I hope he moves on, he did help us out this year due to the injuries we had and played quite well.
But he is getting on in age and very slow. Let the youngsters take over from here for outside back depth in the coming seasons.

Utai was the only one who didn't look like a stunned mullet in the last 10 mins against the warriors. I'm more then happy to keep him round for another year.

I agree he gave us good value this year, & he would give us a bit more depth, as long as he comes @ a reasonable price.

Time to move on. He was a mixed bag on very slow legs who could not jump. Okay he had some great games but on the other hand had some very bad games. Showed a hell of a lot of ticker to come back from park football and compete, but I think its time for some real speed out wide and I think most teams have him worked out.

No thanks he has to many deficiencies in his game and will be keeping better/younger players out of the squad

Pretty harsh to flick him. Everyone has some bad points. I really liked him coming off bench with some big runs; just needs to wind up before like vatuvei was!
Whether he should sit out for younger players isn't really the question cos you know centers wingers are gonna be injured for some part next year… Even as a depth signing I'm all for it

At the right price, the club will keep him. In relation to Daniela it could well have been a matter of the club not being in a position to offer him the money Penrith has available.

When we needed him due to injuries to the rest of the squad he did an ok job.
but the latter half of the season showed that he is a liability in defence and the team isn't capable of carrying him.
he can still make some good runs and takes some stopping, but his loose carries and poor reads in defence outweigh the proposition of having a couple of good runs a game.

Seeing Utai in Centre/wing is kind of like watcching a Paralympian competing at the Olympics. Sure, he's beaten adversity and despite his disabilities he's made it to the top grade. But he's still a quad. I don't see why he didn't decide to become a hooker all the years back, even a half-back.. but centre?

besides his barnstorming runs and difficulty at times of being brought down by the defence it was quickly overshadowed by his lack of pace, turnstile defence and inability under the highball .

had some great games for us this year though.

This is probably the only uncertainty at the moment in terms of current WT's contracts. He was only signed to a 1 year match payment deal. After his form towards the back end of the year i'd say it's time for the bloke to hang up the boots. Sure he was strong in his carries but that alone can't pull you through a season of first grade. He was starting to get exposed badly in the end. Utai put in well and tried every game and was a lot of value to the team this year but I can't see him needed for 2012 with Reddy and Humble being signed coupled with Simona being blooded.

Would get found out in defence unfortunately, plus takes too long to play the ball as he stands in the tackles for an age…maybe bring him back Skando style though if we lose a few rowers during the year haha

For mine he did a good job this year but moving forward we need bigger and faster wingers. If he wants to stay on match payments and play the entire year in the nSW cup fine but with the talent we have in the 20's and the players we have signed for next year I doubt Utai would get a single NRL game.

If Utai comes cheap i would sign him, At the start of the year everyone rubbished him & said he wouldnt get a game all year, but with injuries he played most of the year. As i said if he comes cheap he could be handy.
