Utai

I always liked how he played at the dogs, genuinely hard to tackle.

The fact they didnt want him for a few years clouded my thougts on signing him.

He is playing just as well as I remember. Great stuff.

Sheens picked him up for his defensive hit ups, his work off the line and in early defensive sets. Playing on the flanks with Benji throwing you diamonds is a bonus. I thought he was a dud, but Beau Ryan has Nevile no chance at present getting his gig back. Utai is getting better by the week

Gotta admit, I wasn't a fan of his inclusion in round 1.

But WOW.

This guy is on fire. He runs with great gusto and hits the line hard!

Great stuff!

He was strong tonight and defended better too which was pleasing to see. Proving to be a more than capable inclusion so far.

He is certainly shoving a lot of our words down our throats at the moment (Mine included )Has not been really tested in defense yet or under high balls yet but from what he has done he has been good Congrats Matt

My name is Chris and I'm a humble pie eater. I thought he was outstanding in attack tonight. I hope he can keep this up because there's still a long way to go in the season.

My name is Luke, and my humble pie tastes sweet.

Good to see him stick it to the doubters, including me, so far. I don't think any other tigers player runs it back harder

he is like a pocket size version of tuiaki!!!!

with the injury to Lote, he will be here for most of the season, so lets hope he keeps it up

Mini Tuiaki?

good to see his workrate increase each game.
after round 1 i thought he needed to do more work and he has.

i still can't get over how little halves are challenging him though.

i'm hoping some younger wingers can really step up during the year and challenge him for a starting spot.
i think he is the perfect no.14 in the sheens bench system.

for now,he is certainly needed on the wing.

Won't join the fan club until he loses the stupid ratty though.

Do you know what happened to Sampson after he cut his hair?

Big Fifita has one too

As bad as Fifita's ratty is, it looks 100 times better than Matty Utai's.

Lol, really?

Utai is a mini Tuiaki, love watching him running that ball back!

I've been really, really, really impressed with Matt Utai. Watched him at Cambo and he's mustard.

We've been burned by giving veterans a chance in the past. Earlier on in the year I pretty much figured that Utai would join the likes of Cayless, Buettner, Moodie, Nick Graham and john simon on our list of depressing and embarrasing imports of washed up veterans.

He looks fit and sharp. Seems to have a point to prove and what a snip for us to have him on a second tier contract.

Apart from Utai and lote have we ever bought anyone 30 or older who turned out good for us? I dont think its ever happened.

Does anyone know how he went playing park footy last year? I would expect he would have blitzed it, given the problems he has caused the defence this year.

I went to the game last night and I was impressed with his performance. I am eating my humble pie with plenty of cream, which helps.

he has certainly gone alot better than I expected, runs the ball extremely hard, and has been excellent in returning the ball from our own 20\. Love his effort. However I think his defence is still a big question mark, and he is one dimensional in attack.
That said he is getting the job done and performing the role that he ahs been assigned, ruck it out of our 20
