Vaka Aho

Congratulations to Vaka Aho ahead of his NRL debut this Sunday versus the Panthers.

Vaka is a wonderful example of the Wests Tigers pathways, starting in Harold Matthews in 2019 for Balmain, progressing through SG Ball with the Tigers in 2021 & 2022 (Player's Player), Jersey Flegg with Wests Tigers in 2023 & 2024 and then NSW Cup with the Wests Magpies in 2025 & 2026.

He is a medium-sized prop particularly strong around the hips noted for his training ethic, good leg speed, strong carries, ability to offload and often leading line speed in defence. Vaka has a decent tank too which is evidenced by the minutes he is able to churn out in NSW Cup.

A player that has improved his game each season and now rewarded with selection in the 17 for the Wests Tigers in the NRL in 2026.

He definitely has an opportunity to cement a spot in our pack with some good showings. We're light on for middles and don't look to be recruiting one anytime soon.

So true, you only want to see the absolute elite skip any grades and they are few and far between, definitely not at 18 unless they're a generational talent.

Man, Miller what a disappointment he was always overweight and no drive to work on his fitness, was it Parra that took a chance, ha, how's that working out.
