Any truth than Johnny Raper is in a real bad way as well ???

Sadly, Johnny Raper has dementia.

See this article: https://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2019/04/17/rugby-league-immortal-john-raper-celebrates-80th-birthday/

Can't see his brother Ron in the pics ...hope he hasn't passed as well ...he was the Wests Panthers captain coach in the late 70's

If you can believe Wiki, Ron is still with us: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Raper

Yeah I did the same thing

Thanks T_1

I remember a game v Brisbane Easts ....this sort of thing would never happen now , but the clock stopped at Purtell Park

Ron being captain coach and kicker took the kick at penalty goal thinking there was still 15 minutes

Was only really a few minutes left and we lost 8-7

Funny eh all the stories of times gone, footy has a million; and so what's not to love!!
(I remember a story of Ned Kelly being sent off playing for the Aussies in France - the weather was extremely foggy and he sneaked back on after being sent off by the French ref. Too good to forget! And there's a zillion more ..... )

After first being denied, Bozo to receive a State Funeral

Small story. When I was 10 years old I was the ballboy for West’s Illawarra under 18’s. Bob Fulton was in that team and I think Peter Peters was there too but not one hundred percent sure. There was also a fullback called Alan Maddalena who went to Newtown. Even back then Bob was a standout. West’s Illawarra could sure produce a good footballer. Add John Dorahy, Garry Jack and Steve Roach to name a few.

On a side note two years later I was playing for West’s but I was the ballboy for Port Kembla reserve grade ( not sure how that happened ) and one day I made a try saving tackle ( the only one in my career ) on a Port Kembla under 12 player and was noticed by a Port Kembla committee man who the next Sunday pulled me aside and sacked me for disloyalty. I tried to explain I had to play for West’s because I was in their area. My career was over done and dusted.

Do you think there might be a vacancy for a geriatric ballboy at the West’s Tigers

Yes and so was Keith Barnes who will always be one of my favourite Tigers.I would love to have a goal kicker like him at the club now
