Vander set to rock Campbelltown Sports Stadium for Homeground Heroes
Exciting young band Vander are set to rock Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Monday, August 6, as part of the popular Wests Tigers Homeground Heroes competition.
Six bands fought out the final of the all-ages and genres band Competition. with the prize on offer the chance to play at Campbelltown Stadium in front of thousands of screaming NRL Fans!
Vander is a young and up-and-coming band from Sydney, comprising graduates of the Australian Institute of Music.
A journalist recently described the band as one that ‘merges rock guitars, electronic synthesizers and catchy melodies to deliver a stadium-sized sound, drawing inspiration from bands including U2, Simple Minds and Australia's Icehouse'.
Other acts that competed at the Wests Tigers Homeground Heroes Grand Final were: 6 Feet Down (very promising local Campbelltown group), 62nd Silence (who came 3rd on the night), Soul Principle (tight, covers duo), Nonne MC (up and coming, hot hiphop trio), and Luke Ryan (soloist who placed 2nd). The 200-strong crowd really enjoyed watching the playoff, with such enormous variety in the lineup.
Music industry judges on the night included Jeff Cripps from Ol’55, who now runs A# Studios, plus John Balmforth, who works in Music Publishing with Essex Music/Rondor Group and had a large hand in the production of Richard Clapton’s Girls on the Avenue release, as well as Don Pedro, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist,
The judges commented on the high standard of bands involved in this round of Wests Tigers Homeground Heroes, so fans should look forward to a treat when they catch Vander in the pre-match entertainment on Monday night.
