Very small crowd at Campbelltown tonight.

I live in the Eastern Suburbs and am more than happy to support the boys at Campbeltown, but it's ridiculous when games get scheduled on Monday or Friday nights, as its impossible to get from work to the game in time for the start. Put them on Saturday or Sunday arvo and I'll be there.

Agenda fueled thread, awesome.

If there's an issue with that area of Sydney…...people not turning up to league games, shouldn't that fall onto the governing body and not just 1 club? Didn't a few of the players do some school visits in the area in the last couple of weeks?

One thing I forgot to mention in my earlier post was my thanks to Wests Tigers for playing the game at Campbelltown. Whilst I would have travelled to Leichhardt or SFS if need be it was great to have the game played locally, much appreciated Wests Tigers :sign:

I think this whole thread is an over reaction.

Sure, we would have liked more people there, but at the end of the day it's a trial. I live fairly close to Campbelltown and I am a member (in fact, we have 6 members in our house) and none of us went because we'd rather wait for the real stuff.

This does not make me a poor supporter (the opposite, in fact - as a member I put my money where my mouth is). It does not mean that I don't feel the love from the Tigers. And it also doesn't mean that Humphreys (or anybody else for that matter) is to blame for me sitting at home…

All it means is that it was a trial!

Geez, folks, get over it!!

Do these Magpies tragics ever shut up?

Obviously not

Please tell me who these complaining Magpie tragics you keep referring to are.
I am an ex Mapie fan, now a devoted Wests Tigers fan living in the Campbelltown area.
This year I have been to all 3 trials
I too was very disappointed in the attendance at last nights game and there is no one to blame but ourselves.
But as soon as one person has a Bug to bear ( excuse the pun ) you all jump on the band wagon and seem enjoy throwing us Ex- Magpies into the same category.
From what I can see only one person has been airing their disappointment of Wests Tigers lack of presence in the Campbelltown area on this thread and they are is own opinions not ours….!

Be fair Bug, we all know of those 19,845 about 4,000 of those are residents of Rookwood, 4,000 received their memberships with their local Woolworths/Coles catalogue letter box drop, 2,000 are the local feril cats and another 2,000 live in the US and have absolutely no idea what a Souths is

Did you know we now have a 1 match membership? 60 odd bucks I think
Sort of cheapens the whole thing imo.

it may be their job to capture the audience, but its still up to people to go out to the game. stop blaming others. what are you doing to rally up tigers supporters huh? i mean as a supporter its also your job to help support your team, therefore getting as many other supporters to the game too! how many people did YOU take with you tonight??

and there it is - another latte drinking snob supporter who can't find his way out of leichhardt - i think its time we stopped putting the boot in to other supporters who don't travel

Please people, you think Wests Tigers supporters only live in Leichhardt and Campbelltown :crazy :crazy :crazy

Must admit I WAS a Leichhardt tragic, but I enjoy Campbelltown just as much now, great ground and great club.

Don't live anywhere near Leichhardt or Campbelltown but we do turn up when the Wests Tigers are playing!!

PS, hope that is the last time they wear those awful yellow jumpers

I wish a few of the people complaining would read Cunno's comment

Show some appreciation that the Wests Tigers played the game at Campbelltown when they could of played it elsewhere and probably doubled the crowd and their profits

Well said Cunno and use those rep points carefully my friend :sign:

Apparently Penrith is one club that does these things right:

In front of a **crowd of 8975**, Penrith ran in five tries to two…........

GNR, I accept that there are die hards from both Wests and Balmain, and I never wanted to come across as "anti Balmain".

For whatever reason there were people that decided to stay home and that's fine, but then you get the small number of people who stay home when they could be at the game then take a stab at the numbers and toss in the "lowlife Campbelltown" lines - and I doubt it's old Magpie fans trash talking their home ground.

You only need to look as far as the "Favourite Campbelltown Moment" to see this too. Not long after the thread started, your reading comments saying someone's favourite moment is "Leaving the area" and "Finding my hubcaps still on my car after the game". As I said, I doubt the old Magpie faithful are trash talking their home ground.

I went to the Bulldog/ Raiders game in wagga last night. While the venue was not up to scatch, the place was packed. Mcdonalds Park only seats about 5000 but there were lots of people there, like me who didn't follow either team but wanted to see some NRL out in the country. I believe that all trial games should be out in the bush as we are starved for footy out this way and if you slack arse so called locals can't be stuffed to go and support your team then give the game to the country where the people will come and support the game no matter who's playing.

i don't drink lattes… it takes me 2 hrs to get to campbelltown - a 4 hour round trip. i love the tigers, but they aren't my life. if it was a semi final or something, ofcourse its different.. but this was a trial match.... TRIAL MATCH...

personally i think this judgement being placed on us that don't go to campbelltown is childish... it's indirectly suggesting that we aren't real supporters.... it's incorrect.

p.s. people please stop comparing campbelltown crowds vs games in areas such as hobart, WA, wagga wagga... these people are DESPERATE for some footy action... ofcourse they are going to get good crowds to trials.. if the tigers NEVER played at campbelltown, you would have had 10,000 + at that game.

Well there you go I didn't expect that

Maybe we need to take the games to regional country areas (Gladstone ,Rockhampton ,Bundaberg or Yeppoon) in regional Qld

Well anywhere within a two hour trip of Happy would be good

Good for the future of the Tigers to try and get more fans outside of Sydney

The sooner all this "hubcaps stolen"/"latte sipping" BS is a thing of the past the happier I'll be. Why on earth do supporters of our club want to fuel these divisions? I don't expect to be best mates with everyone who supports my team but I'd rather emphasise what we've got in common that what divides us.

Personally I don't get out to C-town as often as I'd like - maybe one or two games a year, even though in the past couple of years I've been to away games in Canberra, Central Coast, Gold Coast, Auckland, Penrith and Cronulla. It has to be said that C-town is the most painful trip from the city of all the greater Sydney venues, and even less fun to get back from (I like a beer at the game and maybe a couple afterwards as well so I don't drive to games if I can help it). Friday and Monday games are close to impossible, and Sundays are dicey during my soccer season - if I'm lucky I can play Sunday and still make Leichhardt or the SFS, but C-town is too much of a trek for the timing to work. No special point here, just explaining that it's possible to be committed to going to games and still struggle with the other end of geography.

Oddly, although I don't think he does himself any favours with the continual anti-club administration rhetoric I can see some logic in what Bug says. Obviously I don't live in the region but if it's not going on I think the club is missing a trick by not branding the area. If you drive through Alexandria/Redfern etc most of the pubs have those "This is South Sydney" banners (or at least they did for a long time) and it does make you aware of where you are and whose catchment it is. It certainly can't do any harm to try the same kind of thing.

That said, some of it has to come from the community itself. In the Rozelle/Balmain/Lilyfield/Leichhardt area you can tell you're in Tigers territory because so many of the shops and businesses have memorabilia on display - that's not the club, it's punters. Perhaps the club could give out some freebies to pubs and shops in the south west region?
