I spent many hours doing laps the the garage during my teens with Scalextric. I had a great circuit, chicane, flyover, tight corners, esses & long straights.

OK video gamers, since we will be social distancing for a while I’m looking to buy a game console to help pass the time. Last video game I played was on the Wii, so I haven’t played any in quite a while. I also used to play Flight Simulator on a PC. Looking for Console / PC and game recommendations.

I was thinking of the Xbox digital edition but I am open to different options. Something the missus would enjoy as well.

Also what’s the go with on-line games? Yes I am ignorant when it comes to modern video gaming.

No, I made my own circuit and just pretended it was Bathurst.

Each to their own but I don’t get buying hard copies, the resale value is ordinary.

It's more than zero, which is the digital resale value!

I'm not saying that's my strategy, because I keep my games forever (literally, I still have DOS games on my drive), but if you have a digital copy for $25 and a disc copy for $25, you may potentially sell your disc copy for $8-15 plus/minus postage, which is about half your money back.

But more importantly, you can buy games at heavy discount from the folks who do want to sell.

I had Aurora AFX. Still works actually, I got it out last year and set it up, the cars needed a bit of a tune and the triggers were a bit jumpy. My kids had no idea what they were looking at.

Yeah get that but it’s pointless if you’re a hoarder which we are with games. With add-ons if you get them also makes it a moot point. See what you’re saying - each to their own.

@mike if you have a family who are all willing to co-op, definitely recommend the switch. Mario Kart 8, Mario Party, Super Mario Bros are all great ways to have good 4 player fun.

I wish they'd reboot Goldeneye on the Switch like they did on the Wii.

I thought I would try something cheap. $1.00 for Xbox app on PC(Beta) from Microsoft. First game I tried, 73GB download, came up with an error and said the graphics card does not support DirectX12. A quick check showed DirextX12 is installed and working correctly. Oh well, it is still in beta, so I guess I’ll try something else.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I've been playing Rocket League for a good while now, embarrassing amount of hours clocked probably.

Steep learning curve, but real good fun.

Other than that my gaming is limited to the FIFA games.

We got 2 in the house and i never get any time on em.

At the end of the day i love a good book first

I started playing Halo CE for the first time the other day. I reckon I played the Truth and Reconciliation mission a hundred times and still can't pass it. What a frustrating game haha.

I reckon it took me 100 hours to get decent at Rocket League. I still can't do aerial control.
