You're right there, especially
My original question does anyone know of parents who have removed children from footy re vlandys claims. Lol
We got off track a bit , and I appreciate all comments and opinions. I guess nobody knows any of these parents vlandys is so called talking about.

They'll get crushed - it's only a matter of time. Litigation (or fear of) will kill a lot of sports. You'd have to think participants will need to sign waivers but they'll probably be as meaningful as a current NRL contract.
There'd be an awful lot of ex-NRL players already brain damaged (although they might not know it yet) and it can't be allowed to continue. I'm genuinely torn between loving the game and wanting them to be protected.

Yeah I know at least 4 or families that started soccer ..went to league and were talented league (and AFL players ) and went back to soccer or AFL ....
This extends much further back than others know or even think about ...1 of the Dads was a principal at a local high school and his son was one of the best players in the comp ....and some clown confronted him and said the only reason his son got picked in this schoolboy rep side was because he was a principal and heard a similar situation about a netballer in my daughters age group whose Mum is a teacher (different school ) ..this girl is easily the best shooter in her age group in Gladstone
I don't know how many people I have known over the years who have got stiffed or treated badly because they did or didn't make rep sides and have walked away
Worst case I ever saw ...in the year I went through the state system a brother of a current Test footballer (Les Kiss ) made the state side ...you ask any one at those titles what they thought of him and many said he was one of the worst wingers at the titles ....he got picked and then he got picked off by NSW ..I think we lost 30 something to 10 ...thankfully they got rid of him

NRL have to take a stand on head and neck contact now. The game is still tough. Even without the punching, stiff arms and spear tackles. Just part of the evolution of becoming professional.
How do sports like boxing and UFC survive? The goal of those sports is to inflict brain damage.

Because that is an obvious risk that falls within the rules of the sport and participants are presumed to be aware of that obvious risk and choose to proceed in any event. They also have requirements in, for example, amateur boxing around head gear and glove weight and in UFC and professional boxing they have long windows between fights to mitigate risk.
It is not within the rules of league to strike a player to the head, but it is a potential risk. League needs to put in place sufficient rules and enforcement measures to mitigate the risk to players. They are apparently concerned that they may not be doing enough.

As a parent often I volunteered groundwork bbq sideline duties etc.
The parents back then were concerned about the up to 50 kg difference between the same age kids and the injuries from the disproportionate weights.
The other concern was the parents behaviour at the grounds, swearing encouraging violence and parents fighting on the sidelines.
Parents have been taking their kids away not one I spoke with had ever mentioned head knocks.
At the same time I also volunteered at Toongabbie demons soccer club. Soccer had already implemented strict behavioural guidelines for players coaches parents and fans. Last week a brutal gang attack on a father in Brisbane on the footy field, last year stabbing at wenty leagues Ringrose . There are dozens more unreported by media .
There is also the fact a soccer player can make in a season more than the league's entire salary cap.
Fantastic initiative to stamp out the head knocks concussion .
But don't just make up ur own bs facts and figures.
Anyone know anyone that has removed a child or opted for soccer due to vlandys claims ?
A brilliant summary of the "genuine" issues throughout rugby league and why it may deter parents. Yes, Vlandys is delusional ....... and dictatorial, blinkered, egomaniacal, autocratic, stubborn, thugish and bullying, with unfettered power to turn a thought bubble into rule changes. He is better suited to leading the CCP than the NRL.
Peter Vlandys, will be remembered as the great destroyer of rugby league as we knew it.
He is right though
Basically there is nothing stopping footballers from probably the last 2 generations of footballers (last 15 years ) of suing the game for not taking enough responsibility for the protection of players from concussions and CTE
If that was continue the game would destroyed financially ...we are a tiny market ...nothing even remotely like the NFL
Does everyone get that
They will make changes ..I like the thoughts of Robinson with 3 levels
But the game had to take a powerful stance and will continue to have to take a powerful stance on head high tackles

And that's fine, there are always the cotton wool parents. The same parents who don't allow their kids to climb trees .

bit of a difference between falling out of a tree once and breaking a bone or getting knocked out and playing junior footy without proper tackle technique and getting continual head knocks
my 2 year old runs around, eats dirt etc without me or my wife stopping him, but i have no interest in signing him up to junior nrl and when the time comes to it he probably will play soccer due to the OPs points
