The Brooks bashers as you put it have actually been validated today. The problem everyone has had with Brooks is he isn't a halfback. He doesn't lead, he doesn't organise, he doesn't handle pressure and he's not a thinker.

When he won that Daly M award, Benji and Robbie did all those things for him. For the 3.5 seasons after that it's been repeatedly stressed how it is now Luke's team and he has the keys. As such he's performed dreadfully ever since.

Today he was allowed to just run and play what was in front of him with Jackson doing all of the talking and thinking. It's not a surprise to see Luke then play much better.

Luke had the pressure lifted off him today and a real halfback led the team...Luke has always been a good defending halfback but his running game was his main asset and it was restricted to guide the team around,its not a bagging of his talent,its like making a cook weld a steel frame.either of those jobs are specialists jobs...Lukes running game and defense are his attributes,Hastings is a leader of the team around the park...
Today showed that when players are in their positions and not in makeshift positions what a difference it makes....

The guys injured mate. He's scored 4 tries in 5 games hasnt he. He was solid, scored a try today and had to go off re-injured knee.
He hit the ball up well several times in first half.
We need him to come back fit, quality player when he's on.
