If Sheens goes to the NZ Warriors, how long before Benji follows him??

If Benji wants to continue with the same form from 2012 in 2013 …....

my answer would be it can't happen fast enough to be honest

2010 he had a great year.
2011 he had a great year.
2012 he had an up and down year.. specially at a new position

And this year he was easily our top in try-assists, some of which were utterly brilliant - e.g. 30 metre pass to an unmarked Beau Ryan, inside ball to Moltzen vs St Geo, banana kick of the decade vs the Knights from memory…
We take him for granted. He's also worth double whatever he is paid in his value to the WT brand.

On Heighno, the fact that he was one of our best in the last six rounds just shows how bad we are going. Its the same reason why Beau Ryan was one of our best outside backs this year. Cause everyone else was pretty much rubbish. I think when your going average the guys who try hard, etc are probably the ones who stand out. Heighno may have been one of our best the last month or so but ask the opposition fans what they thought of heighnos performance against them and they'd probably say something like "he didn't worry us" or "didn't really notice him".

I agree, unfortunately CW cannot play in forwards if we have Fulton in the team, the same goes with Blair.
So my preferred forward combination is:

Woods
Farah
Galloway
BMM
Pettybourne
Fulton

and bench
Moors
Bell
Brown/Fotuaika
Sironen

Go Tigers

I for one would hope Benji stays if Sheens goes to NZ. This year he played out of his preferred position - and the position he was previously acknowledged as the best in the world - on top of having to come up with most of our attacking options - in fact pretty much ALL of it when Farah didn't play!

Put him back to #6 with a new coach and fresh outlook, and a decent #7 to take the heat off and watch him bounce back. This coach is killing his talent, not the player himself.

Agreed Barra. But even if Sheens stays, i would like to see him move Benji back to 6\. Although the trouble is with Anasta and Sironen on the books, Benji may be a victim of circumstance and have to stay at 7 in order to accomodate one of Anasta or Sironen.

Benji said in his weekend column,I want to play 6 next year,I didn't handle 7,plain enough for everyone to see except Sheens, that alone should be enough to get Tim out the door.

The man is an established experience international on big bucks. He needs to stop complaining about jumper numbers and worry about his own game. Wearing number 7 and not 6 is not a reason for throwing passes behind your support, losing the ball returning it from your 20m zone, not running at the opposition, or failing to find touch on penalties. Johnathon Thurston seems to be able to handle either role.

Yep he had a great year in 2010 But who in the crunch play of the game to get us to the GF kicks out on the full v the Saints B. Marshall

Yep he had a great year in 2011 also But who in the crunch play of the game with a couple of minutes to go decides to run the ball when any other 6 or 7 with a brain kicks for field position B.Marshall

2012 he had his worst season for a long time Troy , and has looked totally bewildered when we need him to step up against Top 4 sides for at least 18 mths Agree he should only wear one jersey but even when he was in the 6 he was pretty bad

This might be pretty controversial , but if we ever get to a GF qualifier again and lead by less than a try with less than 5 to go I would drag Marshall ,put Fulton to 6 and throw a forward on .

If we play him at 6 next season and he doesn't perform especially against the top sides , he has to go

For the money he is on he has to perform week in week out to at least an acceptable level

If Marshall wasn't at the Tigers a plethora of 5/8' s and 7's would come to the club to play outside Farah

Robbie Farah is the key to this club on the field , not Benji Marshall

Just on your point there about Farah happy, I hope the club is ensuring he stays, I think his contract is up next year and he will no doubt attract plenty of interest.

Well pointed out Yoss and Happy, and you could add some more clangers there too. But we are talking about Benji, not Thurston, and Benji back at #6 position, not at #7 doing all the first receiving and kicking. Neither are his strong points - especially when he has played his guts out and it under fatigue. The coach is trying yet again to manufacture something that does not exist in him. He is a game breaker not a decision maker, especially under pressure.

Yes he needs to cop the criticism for execution when it goes wrong, but for that final in 2011 when he ran, Farah needs to take some heat there too, neither of them made the correct decision.

I still think a decent #7 who can kick and organise to support he and Farah, and that with him back at #6 concentrating on his own talents of running and deception we would see him bounce back. Of course he will still throw the odd dud pass but he was doing that when voted the best.

It all comes back to the COACH putting too much pressure on him. Please go to the Warriors Tim, your work here is done.

JUst read on another post–Sheens is not interested in the job in NZ. IOts going to be another long horrible year in 2013

does anyone know if there has been any further recent discussions at weststigers board level about sheens and a possible 😛ray: replacement, and if not when is their next meeting. the board needs to be open and transparent about this issue and to bite the bullet and move sheens on. sure, payout of a contract is obviously a prime consideration but the time has come for a change. i was a long time sheens supporter but after the final two matches it became patently obvious that the messages and inspiration are not there anymore.

c'mon tigers and do whats best for supporters, sponsors and the players … let sheens go.

he hasn;t been interested in doing his job here for a while so what's the difference?

The difference is he can get away with it here. He's not stupid, he can get bucket loads of dough for another couple of years without having to be accountable for his coaching performance, whereas the Warriors would sack him if he didn't perform up to speed. Really looking forward to next year - NOT!
