The Warriors are set to sack coach Matthew Elliott after a poor NRL season start, a report says.

The Warriors are set to part ways with coach Matthew Elliott after a disappointing start to the NRL season, according to reports on Sunday.

News Limited are reporting Elliott was informed on Sunday morning that the Warriors were looking to "move in a different direction" after the club's 37-6 thrashing to Cronulla on Saturday.The article says a formal announcement is expected over the coming days.

After an impressive pre-season, a stirring performance at the Auckland Nines and the big off-season acquisition of Wigan superstar Sam Tomkins, the Warriors have been one of the big flops so far in the NRL.They were thrashed by Parramatta 36-16 in round one before losing 31-12 to St George Illawarra at Eden Park in round two.They bounced back with back-to-back wins over North Queensland and Wests Tigers but were woeful in the loss to the Sharks.

Apparently they made inquiries about Flanagan before the Sharks quickly re-signed him. Potter seems an obvious progression.

GNR is right , the players wanted Iro from day one and Elliott was on a hiding to nothing

I think Elliott is vastly overrated as a coach. He has never won a single finals game as a head coach, I was stunned when the Warriors signed him. I have seen him on Fox Sports numerous times and I think he'd be a good fit for a TV role.
