Was it Momorovski's fault?

Question - does Chris Smith's sin bin continue into extra time? I can't ever recall watching a golden point match where a player was sin-binned after the 70 minute mark.

Not sure I am seeing that this question is even being asked.

He scored two tries from two of the best individual efforts for the club this year and people are saying he cost us the game.

He is a second string kicker, playing out of position (he is a centre not a winger) and a player that more than half the Forum a few weeks ago described him as a plodder and not up to first grade standard.

For those that said that and are now saying or going to say this - you can't have it both ways.

Well TBH he is our “third string option“ kicker behind Marsters and Mbye so as others have said him missing the kick did not “lose” us the game - we should never have been in the position for that kick to be of consequence

Now the almost criminal fact we have not had a genuine goal kicker in our team for 5(?) years is a completely different matter.....

@hsvjones totally agree HSV, Benji didn’t cost us the game but for what seems like the Enth Year running he’s not steering us home at the point end of the year. He never did it on his own during ‘05 either. I’d like to think he’s as good as he was in ‘10-11 but he isn’t and we don’t have anywhere near that much quality in the side... one thing we have got is a coach to rival Sheens !

Prince in 05
Lui in 10' and 11'

Real half backs, thats what got us to the finals.

Since 2008 when Hodgo left. Big Patty in 2014 and 2015 and thats it.

It was a bad kick, but there's no guarantee we would have won in extra time and based on our record in that dept. we probably would have lost anyway.

The injuries did the job, we don't have a roster littered with talent, the loss of players during the game was always going to make things harder.

Nope...sin bin in the last 10min ends at the end of regular time..

GP they start 13 on 13..if they replaced Smith it counts as the 1 interchange you get in GP..

@Geo well then Gus is a goose, he said it Carry’s on from regular to time to golden point.

Not his fault for me as he was not our first choice kicker and has not had a kick to win like that before.. The kick before from the sideline hit the posts as well... Sliding door moment :grinning:
I was a little disappointed that one of our experienced guys E.g. Benji didn't go and have a chat to him prior to taking the kick. There really was not enough time to have the kick and get more than 1 or 2 tackle without rushing.. I truly believe if they let him take the time and get his nerves / breathing under control he nails it. You could see him rushing it just so they could get a kickoff done.. And that's where we lack.. Footy smarts.

What did you want benji or a senior player to talk to him about? The weather, plans for after the match? Sorry but a top goal kicker loves those moments...it's all on the kick. So no it's not his fault because he is not got the personality for it.

The weather would have been a good start, possibly the windy night and any adjustments that may be necessary. More importantly though were other whether issues, whether he was comfortable, whether he was composed, whether he was confident?

@Tigerdave add to that the massive lapse after half-time and writing was on the wall .

Madge should Have turned off the dressing room heaters at half time. They were asleep and looked warm and fuzzy when the ran on for second half. And they got what they deserved.

Accidentally hit yes, but I don't think it was his fault. At 18 all, we could have still lost in golden point so we don't know if it would have made a difference.

We faffed around all game and only starting hitting our straps with 10 to go.

That was an important 2 points against a bottom team....we blew it and that's our season.

Hope I'm proven wrong, but Manly, Newcastle, Saints and Cronulla won't be easy.

Definitely not. The culprit was Benji. A last tackle penalty needlessly given away for holding down a player too long right after half time was the true failure. After that the Bulldogs took all the momentum for 20 minutes. They also scored in the set directly proceeding that penalty. Also his intercept pass was rather spastic.

In his defence I don't think he held the player down for any longer than the Dogs were for the whole game. Just a "let's even up" by the Refs.

Momirovski scores two tries he was not entitled to. One a bad setup by Mbye that went down with injury and the second a horrible harbour bridge pass by Brooks. We don’t score without him in those situations. He played well he’s not a first grade kicker and young.

**Instead of looking at the missed kick, look at the missed tackles and dumb plays that put us in that position - *again*!**

Not sure what the question is.

If the question is,
Was it his fault he missed the goal?
The answer is Yes.

But if the question is,
Was it his fault we didn't win?
The answer is No

I honestly think with the 2 quick injuries to our key players....panic set in and there were desperation moves more often than not..Benji and Brooks should have had a pow wow and set up a plan B ...instead they tried to desperately win after making some silly errors, not Brooks but Benji should have grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and used composure to settle the game, although he did start to win the game after the bird had flown...just my opinion...

This, plus another stupid ruck penalty that they scored off.
And don't discount the absolute garbage defence on our line by Brooks and Chee... (from the Benji penalty).
