Watson Heleta and Marion Seve

Watson Heleta is destained to make his debut with the tigers this season. Last year in the U20's comp he scored 29 tries from 33 games and at one point had 21 tries from 21 games before he was Injured. But do not worry he has recovered and is in contention for the centre position and has Marion Seve going for the position as well. I will definitely keep an eye on him if he gets a centre and I will also keep an eye on Marion seve as well. I believe that Lawence's days at centre are numbered and it is time for Watson Heleta or Marion seve to have a crack.

Warson played 33 games and scored 29 tries and was injured last year…what an achievement...he certainly is destained...

That is what the Daily Telegraph said in the article.

:roll

Also, DT isnt exactly up to date with current affairs at the Tigers if they're still counting Lawrence as a centre. More garbage from a garbage paper.

Re. Seve & Heleta, let's hope they hit their straps this year. Nothing like a bit of competition for spots.

Yep, we could see change as early as Round 3 if Kev and Simona aren't performing.
Chee Kam, Seve, Heleta, Peni, Rankin are all in contention

I also hope that they are ready to show their true wares Swag, and that you soon work out that anything to do with Murdoch (News LTD) should be taken with a truck load of salt.

Good to hear our young players are training hard, however, I would be surprised of they are better RC option than Naiqma. As we know, u20's is a different game, IMHO MIlone (before injury) was better center than either Seve or Haleta
People who see Lawrence as center didn't watch NRL for the last 3-4 years :frowning:

I think people need to watch the lower grade games more, heres may take on haleta and seve.

haleta, lacks real pace, but is a better defender than seve. think he will end up in the backrow.
seve, has good pace but he is a lazy defender and gets caught out a lot in defence, this is why they put him on the wing last year.
I dont think either will make it in the NRL , i would love to be wrong but thats my take.

I kind of agree, I think that they both might play the odd game, but feel both are going to fall short.

I have a little more hope for Seve, all the ingredients are there, if he gets it together he might get there, hoping that the injury hampered his progress and he can on track to where he was heading.

Id like to see Rankin get first crack at Centre.

There is a three-quarter spot available, wonder who will grab it.

Can anyone copy the article?

Lawrence's days as a centre are numbered? lol, that's quality!

I'd disagree BP. Heleta isn't lightning but he's pretty sharp, and is extremely powerful. Very strong leg drive. Defence is solid. He's got to show that the power he has can transtition to playing against bigger and better players.

Seve is faster and far more elusive, not quite as chunky as Heleta. His defence has been very good at centre, except when he was pushed out to wing, a position neither player is suited too. He did improve on the wing in defence though and made 3 excellent one on one try saving tackles in a match towards the end of last year. The high ball aren't their strengths as they're both quite short. Sure, he can finish but he'd be a much better option in the centres.

Milone, is far far behind Naiqama, Seve and Heleta, and Peni+Rankin.

I'd say, apart from experience there isn't much difference between Naiqama, Seve and Heleta. Pretty similar strengths and weaknesses, but the latter are younger and will benefit from playing against men on a weekly basis in nsw cup this season. With the weird rotation policy they each only got a couple of games last year. And Seve's were on the wing…

Very hard to tell mate.

Kevin is tested against first graders day in day out. The other 2 have been playing against boys. Plenty of potential, but as we see with many players, some with make the jump easy, and others never will.

I personally don't think either of them will see first grade this season unless there is an injury. Simona is a lock in Centre, and Kevin has stated he is training at Centre. Essentially this means we would be filling a wing spot to begin with.

A few injuries and who knows.

This is what the actual article says

_A standout in the Tigers under-20s over the past few seasons, the powerful and dynamic Heleta has drawn comparisons with Konrad Hurrell for his bustling running style. He’s represented the Junior Kiwis on several occasions and will push for a spot in the centres for the Tigers. The latest of a series of Keebra Park High products to join the club, Heleta scored 29 tries in 33 matches for the Tigers under-20s, including an impressive 21 in 21 matches in 2014._

Very different to what the OP suggested. The 33 matches was not in a single year.

Personally I'm a bit disappointed that Seve has not come on more, though I do realise he had most of a season out with a shoulder injury.

WT have always had a good share of "next big thing" coming through the ranks, always a young prospect to be excited about, and my take was that Seve was the best of our post-Brooks crop. I suppose it's hard, we had a period in the mid 00s when juniors like Benji, Farah, Lawrence came to grade with near immediate impact. Some of these latest fellows have taken a little while to come on, even Tedesco due to injuries.

During Seve's downtime I feel Heleta has come on more than I expected, almost the opposite of Seve. I like his build very much for centre or backrow, though it remains to see how his lateral movement will be maintained over the coming seasons. Comparisons with Hurrell are fine, except that Hurrell can be a massive liability at times.
