We are changing; for the better. It's tough now, but the right decisions are being made to undo all the previous bad management.

I can tell you that Papaali had a bigger reputation than any of those guys when he came here … it’s only your opinion they will do any better here than he did … also listing players that might be available is one thing ,,. But do they actually want to come here ?
Yes my opinion and have no idea whether any of them would want to come here but I'd like them here. They are examples of players I think would suit us atm.

It’s like when people death rode the podcasters petition, then there was happiness temporarily.

Richo signed and Luai signed and there was happiness temporarily.

Now the death riding has started on Benji & Richo.

Maybe people just enjoy death riding 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think Stef and Paps are losses, but I also trust Richo will use the big money wisely.

I dream about coming 9th again … we didn’t appreciate those years did we ?

Doesn't make him a big loss.
Just means he was the best winger at the wooden spooners.
Yep so weve let the best player in his position walk and are celebrating his replacement, by definition not as good, to be a part of the recovery.
This is happening in other positions as well.

I watched two semi final qualifiers at Leichhardt where we got pumped by Raiders and Sharks and it was awful.

I’d certainly take some meaningful footy in August though.

There’s a generation of talented players emerging. It won’t be easy to keep them together but we’re closer now than we’ve been since those days of 9th.

We have no idea what is going on with Bateman ..supposedly he is back next year so he may as well be just having a holiday ..seems an absolutely crazy decision …unless there is an agreement with Burgess that he will remain over there …probably still cost the Tigers plenty though

With Ice… it would be hard to argue that he has lived up to expections … but do you think he MIGHT have improved playing outside Luia next year ? And he was an adequate NRL forward .., they could be in short supply next year …so to let one go without an obvious replacement seems short sighted …and now we living in hope one will fall into Richo clutches …
Supposedly on Bateman the Warrington deal will be a permanent one. He's replacing Lachlan Fitzgibbon who's out for the season with injury & will also be replacing Matty Nicholson who's off to Canberra next year.

I find it hard to agree …but of course you are entitled to your opinion …

Can I also say that the Bateman decision is like something we saw under the previous regime …makes zero sense ….

ok …that would be a good outcome if true ….but I tell ya ..it’s such a convoluted way to achieve that … nothing is ever straight forward with this club … things like this and Stefs contract clauses for example …. Cue the Benny Hill music and the clown wigs

How patient is patient ? We’ve been fed bull dust for years and whilst I know renewed efforts are being made we are still stuck in NRL quicksand and everyone’s got a different opinion of how to get us out.
How much longer before help actually arrives !!!’

I see two potential benefits on the Bateman one.

A. It’ll roll into becoming permanent and further add to Richo’s ability to reshape the roster.

B. He goes over there and wins a comp and comes back with a winning mindset instead of what he is now. Clearly frustrated and not enjoying football.

Youre tainting new management with the decisions of old.

We havent let go of anyone except Papali, who hasn't lived up to expectation.

As for Stef, if he goes, we didn't have a choice. Previous management negotiated a horrible contract.

And I don't think we had the ability to pull in the RIGHT assistant coaches at the start of 2024, there was too short of a runway before the season started.

I have it on good authority the young players genuinely believe they can turn the club around.
And if u believe the young players after watching nsw cup , I quess u believe in the Easter bunny and Santa Claus

After digesting the previous posts in this thread my view is as follows:
This relatively new version of the WTs with the management changes, Richo and Benji is a big improvement on what went on before.
We obviously haven’t finished evolving along this new path with changes to the coaching team imminent and with roster changes coming.
A lot of course will depend on what players we can add and who we can rid. Also who we are able to retain or upgrade.
So there are a few big questions yet as to whether we can make the necessary improvements to our squad.
I am very hopeful and remaining positive that things are heading the right way.

Who knows with Bateman news. But maybe looking at things as they stand / stood.
* Richardson goes in fishing expedition to ESL to see about swapping out / offering some of our unwanted players inc Bateman.
* Bateman says he doesnt want out (as does Naden and Sullivan). But we do know Bateman has always taken extended period of time in off season back in England for family.
* opportunity arises / or maybe was in original conversations with Richo when in England) for Bateman to cover Warrington players out for rest of season.
* WT have Seyfarth, Fainu and Porter able to cover his immediate loss and maybe, just maybe Bateman will decide to stay in England- no doubt Richo has already said we are happy for you to stay there if you like as we can cover your loss.

Who knows but opportunity gained shouldn't be turned away- our season is over. Whats it matter if we can get him off our books and open up a badly needed top 30 slot for next season.

Agree that this is the optimistic take ..and would be the best outcome for us …

Time will tell
