We got it wrong - NRL

We created this monster.

People kept going on about the refs needing to make decisions and to stop constantly going upstairs to review things. Now they make decisions in haste and the same people are unhappy.

In this instance, seeing as the ball went dead and it was a match deciding penalty, surely it could have been reviewed?

We need a Captain's Review system.

Re: Captain's Review - I like it! It certainly cleaned up Cricket - what two reviews per captain per game.

Yes please

If you insist on keeping the golden point concept, it should be golden try.

You can score as many points in golden time from field goals or conversions. They add up at the end of golden time. But if anyone scores a golden try, they win. Full stop.

If this isn't the right answer, go back to a tied game after 80 and that's it.

Klein was a good ref once, many years ago. He has turned into a fool like some others that get sucked in by the blatant diving, pretend injury and captains slowing play. He is now nicknamed Sidchrome. He is a gold plated tool.

They always get it wrong against the less fashionable sides. The refs want to look strong but only have the courage to make the strong decisions against sides like us. As someone else said, 'It's only the Tigers'. Gutless, incompetent and, of course, wrong.

Missed the point that the Broncos should have been penalised for the same indiscretion when Brooks kicked his f/g. That would of won the game for us without the need for golden point time.

A few people have mentioned this but how would it would? It’s not a foul in the act of scoring so you would have to give the penalty nullifiing the field goal. You then have the situation where if he misses the goal we lose.

Discretional penalities in golden point means one team is always going to get hurt - hence why refs rarely give them.
Golden point is a terrible system and if they are serious about taking pressure off referees they will scrap it.

the game should be declared a draw. as it was a ref mistake and it was the last play.
what happens if we miss the eight by two points. can sponsors or club sue the nrl for lost earnings

I was talking to a mate of mine today and he had the idea, that all penalties in Golden Point should be differentials…..ie, you can't kick for goal.

I thought that would be a pretty good solution, in that the Ref can't give a penalty that wins the game.....

Yep being able to kick for goal from infront off a cheap penalty/wrong call defeats the purpose of golden point. Id rather golden try or a draw tbh

Exactly, if it was Benji going for field goal and Gillett charging at him, play on, same with Melbourne or roosters.

How about both teams in a game be reffed fairly.
_**Rules applied to both teams, consistently,**_ not just a blatant favoritism to the more higher profiled, fancied team. :bulb: :bulb: :bulb:

X1000!

I’ll cop / accept that ….

“IF” we get the rub of the green in future tight matches re refs decisions instead of copping the rough end of the stick

Nothing I love more than losing money on an incorrect call, hope Sportsbet does a refund highly doubt it
