We missed anasta

brooks didnt have control of the game tonight.

he tried some stupid things and just didnt seem to play his normal game, even his kicking was off. i think he really lacked that direction that braith and farah provide.

austin looks good in patches, but i was hoping for more.

dont think so… we looked a bit lost in the opp 20 but that was mainly due to farah imo. our halves were alrite tbh. cant fault them much at all.

Brooks looks the same in attack Anasta or no Anasta. It seemed tonight the instructions were for Brooks to be the only controller and it didn't work out. Austin seemed to be following and left out of last tackle options.

As for missing Anasta, not a chance.

disagree. anasta does alot of talking, pumps up the forwards and directs the backs. players around him arent singing his praises for no reason.

maybe you're right.. we were weaker up the front but we didnt seem so weak against cowboys when anasta wasnt there but when farah wasnt there last week, we lost the ruck a bit.

however, i would still have anasta over austin though.

I cannot criticise the effort from Wests Tigers. Not too bad from a team with around 5 first year rookies playing against a full strength Roosters side. The team definitely lacked some experience and class.

I think we missed his experience too.
Nobody's last kick options are particularly good at the moment without Tedesco.

At first grade, talking, pumping up the forwards and directing the backs is no where near enough. Ill go out there and do it. Anasta is useless, too old, good back in the day. Sick of reading these excuses "his experience and maturity" "pumping up the team" "he guides brooks". Farah does all this and remains the most skillful hooker in the game. We need Farah, not Braith

we have nothing in attack without farah and teddy.
you can talk about anasta and austin all day,but they are both average at this stage of their careers.
brooks isn't even that great yet.

since the injury to teddy we have not scored a try through a backline movement.
though we weren't exactly scoring alot of them before his injury either.
mainly opportunist trys have been the go this year.

lost alot of strike power over the last month in farah, teddy, simona and gavet.
just hoping at some point in the near future they can all get out there together and we can jag a win or 2 to keep us in the hunt when they all return.

What we missed was Tedesco, Simona, Anasta, Farah, Gavet, Fulton, Sironen, Sue, Halatau….......etc etc etc

missed a lot of experience, not sure if we actually missed Anasta himself though

Austin was barely seen, looked like he was cut of a lot of stuff and Brooks was told to run the show

Because it was a patchwork team, it looked like they didn't have the developed combinations necessary to have running confidence in each others play. It also looked to me, several times through the game, we missed experience and a settling influence. They kept trying, but nobody was really in control.

I am with you mtd, and wrote so in the live game thread. I also agree with others above, that it is not just Anasta we are missing, but experience. For me, losing Gavet in the rotation really hurt us and compounded our spine woes.

Like many others, I want to see Austin's individual brilliance team with Brooks as pur halves pairing and think/hope they may well be, particularly when Robbie comes back at the end of the SOO series. However, we are a team and for the moment, even on old legs, Anasta's defence and guidance still brings more to that environment.

We have lost a lot of our strike power and Brooks isn't stepping up just yet.

I really think if we are to be a force we need Brooks to start stepping up and get him a good option at 6\. I don't see Anasta as being that option. It might be Austin however he really needs to kick on. I would give Moses the role a.s.a.p.

Still Tedesco, Farah, SImona & Gavet are all some of our best attacking options and they are all out at this point.

Cant agree mtd.

We scored one try at home against Gold Coast with Anasta with a handful of other opportunities created. Now while the Titans are going well, they are not as good as the Roosters and last night was about the same, one try with a handful of other opportunities created.

Austin made the same mistakes that Braith makes every game, but adds so much more effort, involvement and probing, not to mention he takes the line on in a physical manner.

My only real issue with Austin last night is his poor effort on SBW for the Roosters 2nd try. He didnt put his body on the line the way Brooks was against SBW and thats very disapointing.

Also, its unfair to judge Austin without having the chance to play with Teddy.

Teddy will be a big key to Blakes game. Anasta has had the chance and done nothing, so i want to see Blake have the same chance. If he doesnt measure up than i dare say our best option at 6 may be Sirro for this year and then Moses next year.

Who do u drop in the forwards to bring Sirro back? IMO he has to be in the 17, but i cant justify dropping anyone out of Ava, Sue, Gavet, Taupau, Thompson, Blair. We know Fulton will be there, so 6 may be Sirro's only option ATM. But thats a discussion for another time i guess.

Nah. Anasta is a hack.
We missed Farah.

Agree. Austin takes the line on which at least puts the defence in two minds. Anasta is primarily catch, pass and kick, not always effectively either.

I think with Farah our ability to control the ruck will improve massively and that will also help a guy like Austin, who likes Brooks, is not afraid to take the line on.
