I still think hooker is a bit of a problem at the moment. I don't think Simpkin is ready for week in week out NRL and there is nothing wrong with that at his age. Liddle is still going to have a part to play. As for number 7............not going to say anything, there's plenty been said eslewhere.

Mate when it comes to number 7 you are just like Brooks
Lost for words

I want to see him more aggressive in attack
More vocal marshalling his troops
More accurate with his kicking
He should use all the negative press / forum comments to fire him up
Bring back the Brooks that laid one on Gagai's chin
I want to see fire in his belly and on his face
We want a pit bull in our team not a Schnauzer

It wasn't a go at you
Just pointing out Brooks must step up and be more vocal
We just saw Gamble do that and it paid off for him and the Broncos

I know mate. Sorry if it came across that i took it that way. We are on the same page :+1:

We do have our spine. Just need to give them time to gel. 3/4 spine players haven't played more than a handful of games in those positions at 1st grade so let's just be patient

To me it looks like Brook's job is to control the middle, choose where to attack, call the plays, be the main kicker at the end of a set and to get the ball to Laurie on the left and Doueihi on the right who are the playmakers on the edges. I have seen him talking and pointing all year.

If there is a big open side on the left, Doueihi often moves to it as 2nd receiver.

This has been happening so far this year but Laurie and Doueihi are new to their roles at this level and it is a bit clunky. The players outside them also keep changing.

This part of our game has a lot of room for improvement but is on the right track.

The forwards are where we are are behind the other teams and where we need a big improvement.
Tamou 72
Twal 123 (46 kick return)
Ofahengaue 89
Utoikamanu 63
Seyfarth 69
Mikaele 72 (20 min)

They also let the dragons forwards make too many easy post contact metres in the middle.

Pretty weak numbers by the look of it. Maybe our predictable one out plays in the first half is to blame.

Still think we should be playing Liddle and young Simkins in tandem. Madge has a thing about Moses M playing the 14 role that negates any chance of that happening.

I think Liddle could have had a field day in the second half when we were dominating play.

For me, Simpkins and Liddle should be in the 17, (I was against that idea early) and Hastings as our 7.

Pretty spot on mate. Hence what was actually mentioned by Brooks himself earlier in the year when Doueihi returned from Suspension.
That to me is why it looks a little clunky. If Brooks is controlling the middle along with Simpkin when the play breaks down he is looking for a running off his hip either inside or outside. If the play is organised beforehand to get it out wide he works well in that and gets a quick early shift. I know it’s 160 or so games in. But his finally in his position. His no longer playing a half or five eight role confined to one side of the field.
What he needs to do is back himself and throw an early ball when something happens outside of the structure. That is where we as a team and he is lacking, It’s not a mater of ability, it’s confidence.

He is improving every game but he still needs to shake off his titanium armour and move outside the patterns that have been drilled into him for the past 4 to 5 years.

Who isn’t happy that Madge is constantly increasing Brooks involvement as the main organiser in the side? Douehi is the main attacker but Brooks is still getting everything in general play for Douehi to capitalise.

It’s slowly getting there.

Seeing that Madge benched young Simpkin mid game on the weekend .. and the fact that Liddle scored two trys in the NSW Cup .. could this mean we see Liddle back in the top grade for this weeks game .. ??

This one baffles me. All game he was yelling and pointing. He couldn't be more vocal. He's been vocal all year.

Also, his short kick game was good yesterday. 3 forced dropouts. 1 try set-up, almost 2.

To me, the biggest problem is when he plays flat and gets pressured. Goes all headless chook.

Let's see how we are going in a few weeks.
I like Jake but think we need to give lids some more time as well. I don't know how we can do this whilst still having mbye tho

Therein lies the biggest problems (generally) line breaks are hard enough to come by that you really need to ice your chances. Two big opportunities he had and took the worst options both times.

I don’t get it either if we’re talking about this year. He was very loud on the paddock yesterday . He’s def been given a ? in that department

I've been bagging Mikaele all year, but I saw a bit of venom in his hit ups when he came on. maybe he's got a bit of mongrel in him at the moment?
Can someon explain why tamou only seems to get limited minutes? it is a cunning plan by madge or something?

Rewatched a bit of the game on my break, Simpkin’s service was pretty poor. It slows the attack down a lot.

You could see Brooks shake his head in frustration a few times over it

Probably, maybe, who knows? But I think it shows just how hard it is to play the 9 for 80 mins and how fit are the blokes who do it all season?
