We need an experienced half back

All I'm hoping is Reynolds has a short kicking game and a better option than put a bomb up no matter where we are on the field.

If Cooper Cronk is retiring ( Which I think he will do ) why can't we hire him to teach Brooks and Gamble.

This assumes that you can just throw a great player in there and all of a sudden these guys will turn into great players. They simply might not have the ability or Cronk could be a dud coach.

Brooks is a question mark but we are a very bad football team across the park. No go forward, slow play the ball, no edge backrowers with strike power, centres are average, Kev playing fullback. Brooks has no faith and runs the ball often as he has no options. All we have is going wide to Nofa.

As long as he's not another Ballin and doesn't go around trying to trip people we will be OK,i hope.
The big question is why Des is letting him go,he offered to stay for less money so the Club could be under the Cap and still Des. didn't want him.
Anyway we find out soon enough.

Because a) he won't want to come to a basket case like us and b) I'm pretty sure the Storm have already teed that up

Reynolds will be massive for this club and what they hope to achieve in raising their profile.
On the field he has a lot of flaws but if you keep things simple and give him plenty of support he should be able to do what he does best 'Running'.
I don't see him helping out Brooks one Iota with Game Management. That is a lesson Brooks has to learn himself this year. Just look at how well accomplished Mbye is playing along side Reynolds.
If Brooks learns his lesson this year, Reynolds will complement.
But please don't go thinking that we've signed our Blake Green to support our DCE.

I agree. Reynolds will do what he does independent of, or in cooperation with, Brooks but I don't see him as an organiser. Hopefully Brooks will have his game management sorted before Reynolds gets here.

I heard Cronk was signing with the storm as a support coach and a tv gig.

I didn't see the game in full but I think we will see Brooks improve next year. There just isn't any shape to the team and a genuine lack of depth.

Brooks will be a lot better with Reynolds holding his hand - no coincidence that his best form came when playing alongside Anasta.

Easy answer. Des wanted Kieran. The Dogs must be under huge cap pressures. I think Des just went Reynolds + Kieran means we loose our forwards.

Hard answer, what is wrong with Reynolds? I think Reynolds will either be a boon 5/8 for us or if he does not work out there, possibly the best Center in the comp. If he is fit, then his only defect is his neglectful passing game. Otherwise Reynolds is probably better then Kieran for us, the Dogs however don't need a strong defensive 5/8.

The whole crux of the problem is that the entire pack of forwards the club is carrying is so weak and insipid in attack that the opposition is so much on the front foot by the time we approach the fifth tackle. This makes the task of our halfback so much more difficult to set himself for a good clearing kick on the last tackle. What the club definitely needs to do is get rid of 70% of the players posing as our forwards and replace them with imposing forwards in the same mould as Matulino and Packer whom we have already signed.

They had to let Reynolds go because he's off contract and they signed the farm over for Mbye which was horrendous in hindsight. No one would have taken Mbye on at close to full fare so Reynolds had to go.

I agree although Brooks doesn't seem to have trouble when clearing a kick to get us out of our own end.
Its when we are in the opposition 20 and are expecting a decent kick to take advantage of we appear to be struggling.
At those moments Brooks had defence in his face straight away and no options either side for a running option.
That doesn't necessarily come down to our middle but more the awareness of our edges, there was no blockers or chasers with most of brooks kicks even if he grubered them for 2 meters. This isn't an isolated incident. Even last year I saw plenty of kicks from the halves that other teams would take Avantage but the awareness of our team just isn't there. As mentioned Brooks needs to organise this as part of his job. And really play through a whole set not just think his job is up when it comes to the forth or fifth tackle. This comes down to coaching and may have been a result of Taylor really trying to simplify the involvement of both halves in their first year under him. How much organising is really needed for 4 hit ups and a kick. It's set him back.
These are the areas Luke has improved in this year, even whilst coached by Taylor.
Overall involvement in number of touches.
Defence positioning and contact.
Movement and being available for support or in plays on all areas of the field.
Effort and interest in general.
Kicking for position from his own end.
He really is only down in execution at the moment and that is impacted by the whole team as well as his own.
