Lurker reports the roosters are trying to move him on maybe now that they've bought Keary and want to upgrade Mitchell, takiaho they see Guerra as surplus to demands.
I really believe his experience and work horse like aptitude is something we could do with. Help with blooding the young forwards we have too.

We have our Ellis in Lawrence. Our pack isn't too bad. They just need to be motivated to work harder and to reach their potential.
Defensive structures only work with committed defenders. So long as Moses and Naiqama continue defending side by side, we will always leak points.
Possibly the two worst defensive readers in the game.

Going off this season's stats, Guerra has averaged 33 tackles a game and 110m from 14 hit ups a game and a total of 35 missed tackles. That's pretty decent all around, maybe a few too many missed tackles.
The thing is we need an impact back rower, someone who can break the line and be a threat in attack. A Taumololo type. Taylor is our workhorse, Lawrence pretty much is too (although he's still at least scored a few tries). Both similar to Ellis, but not quite up to his level individually. Aloiai looks like a prop so he's not our impact second rower, and then you've got the likes of Lovett and Halatau. Maybe Chee Kam could be the impact player we need.
Guerra would solidify our pack no doubt, but would leave us fairly unbalanced. Three 80 min back rowers isn't the ideal mix in todays game, at least not when you've got a prop like Woods capable of playing above average minutes. We have always struggled to sign players from other, especially more successful clubs, and we'd have to pay overs to get a current Origin player. Other clubs would want him too if he were to leave and he's exactly the sort of player the Titans would sign.

Ben Currie is the man I would target, an absolute gun. He has a clause in his contract allowing him to take up an NRL offer.

No disrespect to Lawrence but he'd be lucky to get a start with any other team in the NRL excluding Newcastle.
Defensively Lawrence isn't in the same postcode as Gareth. He hit hard and opposition players looked for him in the line. The same can't be said of Rowdy who is reliable and serviceable in this department.
In terms of attack, I think Rowdy is the better option. Runs better lines and more dangerous hole runner close to the line. I felt Gareth improved in this facet of his game in the NRL over his time with Wests to a serviceable level.

He would excel in the NRL and would applaud the club if they ever made a play for him.

both dogs and chooks did win the comp with SBW, and so did souths with burgess. sure they might not win it every year, but which team in the competition wins it every year??
your point holds though, that one player doesnt equal instant success. but we already have woods and tedesco. potentiall brooks/moses if they can tighten up their D a bit and get a bit of consistency which will most likely happen if we boost our pack by buying another couple of good forwards
