We need to sign a goal kicker

Moses does have potential to be a good goal kicker and with another off season under his belt he can dedicate more time to practice the art of goal kicking (seeking advice from JT if still around or maybe the Tigers can enlist Halligan or the like to hone his skills). Otherwise as stated by others on the forum the Tigers will have to purchase a goal kicking outside back.

Most good goal kickers get better with experience, Benji was all over the place early in his career and ended up a reliable kicker.

Sure if a 80% goal kicker came onto the market you would have a serious look at him, but at present I would have Moses and Rankin kicking practice goals all off season

It was a very windy afternoon. Moses just isn't consistent enough in his striking of the ball. He hooks easy kicks far too often. He didn't used to do that, so why he's started hooking the ball in first grade only he knows.

Moses can kick at 80%. But he's got to work out what's giving him the yips, like a golfer who loses his putting.

Today showed we cannot play finals footy without a goal kicker.

We made 3 from 6 conversions and missed both our field goal attempts. We missed a penalty at the death that would have won us the game. I know GC's kicking was woeful too and it was windy but the good teams know that when they score they can rely on their kicker to get the extra 2.

It really makes you wonder how many games we won thanks to Patty Richard's boot.

I don't care who it is, we need to make signing a goal kicker our number 1 priority this off season. Preferably a winger or center.

Yes….. we definitely need a reliable goal kicker, nothing against Rankin or Moses but they are not reliable at goal kicking. :bash
I just hope JT can see this and realise that this is an area that we need to look in to in a serious manner.
Sometimes I believe that a good goal kicker in a team is the most important person to have in the side 😛ray: 😛ray:

Saw JT with the maggies in 90 at 20\. Wasn't much of a 7 but was banging them over including FGs from everywhere.
Kickers either have it or don't.
JT wanted a grinding style which brings close games without a recognized kicker.
He is accountable and should know better.

As for Moses the last few weeks I've heard captain SOO and tonight on another thred even Lebanon.
Should just give kicking away and concentrate on cementing his spot.

Crap! What we need is to get the current kickers to practice practice practice. Go to any Rugby park and anyone in the backline can kick. Yet in Rugby league it seems to be the domain if the specialist?? I don't get it, what else do the backs do? They should all be proficient kickers. If I was a professional footballer I would ensure that kicking was a part of my repotoire to make me a valuable commodity. :sunglasses:

Anyone can kick in Rugby because it's a different shaped ball mate

I think Ryan Papenhuyzen is a good kicker but might not see first grade until 2018\. Hunt is no better a gk than Moses. I think we should let Brooks go next year and sign a decent, experienced, steady lower grade 7 who can goal kick. Like a Darren Nicholls type.

Or a six

Think Michael Gordon would have been perfect as a stop gap fill until we sorted the kicking duties out. Oh well
