I've said it many times before but I believe he is our best attacking weapon by far! we need more plays set up for him, he's one of very few who can beat players with footwork and speed. Fullback is a very very tough position to learn and become good at, it was always going to take time and I think he was and still is unfairly treated on these forums.

Moltzen for all his faults with defusing kicks was always a reasonable 1v1 defender and had the ability to beat players inside the 20\. Without him we'd of scored a lot less tries last year.

My indifference to molten stems from his off field antics of 2011 and his lack of gonads when returning the ball. But he had a very good game tonight. I've been most impressed by his defensive efforts this year. He has made some excellent takes off very difficult bombs so far. Saved a try tonight and one against parra too.
That easy drop by tedesco would be eating him up that's for sure. Hate to see a bloke with such bad luck with injury make a good comeback only to let himself down when given a chance. Unfair to judge much of the rest of his game at wing. I hope he gets another shot soon.

He was safe under the high ball which was good.
The problem I have with him remains the same. He does not want to run the ball with any vigor if their is fear of being tackled. He supported Woods which was what he should be doing but rather then back himself and challenge the fullback he pikes it and starts crabbing sideways which sacrifices momentum and a quick PTB.
He looks like he wants to melt into the ground rather then return a kick properly.
Every single set when Moltzen receives the ball and there is not a winger right next to him we get buried for 3 tackles because he runs with zero conviction and purpose. Every set starts from the momentum of your back three and his playmaking provides almost less then zero of that.
I want to see what everyone else does who says how great he is playing but I just don't. I look at every other fullback in the competition and what they provide and Tim Moltzen ranks a distant last on that list

I find it interesting that he plays pretty well when Tedesco comes into the side, maybe he realises his position is under threat? This is what you want, players playing for their spots.

The first deep kick he had to field at 24 min mark or so he had miles of open paddock in front of him yet he still farted around looking for his winger, realised koro wasnt there and teddy out of position….he may have gained another 10-15m if he put his head down
As it eventuates that set we kick it dead on the 4th as were going nowhere, give away a penaty and then concede the first try....his kick return was negative and negative play and points against ensued
if doing the things i see other fullbacks do every week are worthy of praise then OK....he doesnt do it for me

Agree on the not getting involved enough as well Ink but I don't know whether that comes down to planned structure.
For example the bodies in motion sweep play is most effective when you have the fullback as a floater who can create an extra man or drop in as a playmaker. But we don't do that. Cannot lay that on him though as I don't know the gameplans and structures

i agree if your fullback isnt willing to run the ball your gonna give a extra 3-4 secs for the defense to catch up and put more pressure on the team which is part of the reason we always struggle to get a adv
we need a fullback whos gonna be a threat and can break the line from the back(cmon even joel caine used to break the line from the back every now and than)
