Well here it is ... Benji's own words

Pretty much discounts all the rubbish you have been sprouting dazza. The bloke wasnt happy, distrusted the management, wasnt enjoying his footy and left. Most would say this helps rather than hinders the club.

Move on.

Not sure what rubbish I have been sprouting, but anyway, agree time to move on, club better moving forward without someone obviously very disenchanted, for whatever reason. Next ….

Whatever reasons he gives at this point are not going to satisfy. People already have their opinion of him, and that's the right of every supporter to feel one way or another about the players at the club.

For mine, he's been the 2nd greatest thing to happen in Wests Tigers short history, right behind the guy we were so happy to see leave in the offseason- Tim Sheens. He made a team of misfits, unproven youngsters & aging vets suddenly look competitive, cohesive.

He brought people to the game. He made believers of the fans. We knew that if Benji was 'on', we were good for the day.

He made Wests Tigers an attractive place to play, or support.

He hasn't been as effective since Scott Prince left, we've seen glimpses, but never the best of him. He might never reach those heights again. But at 28, it's no surprise he isn't willing to believe he's not worth top dollar, even if the fans are convinced he isn't worth it. So it's almost inevitable that money would be a problem at some point. And it's not like melodrama hasn't been his best mate over the years. So that it ends ugly… isn't surprising. That he wants to have a shot at the club for releasing his mates over the last couple of years... isn't surprising.

It's a shame it ends like this. But that's life. That's footy. So be it. I hope he kills it at Union. I hope he gets paid. I'm sure he will. He'll be good for that game, like he was good for the NRL.

Now it's time to get excited about Sironen, Brooks, Sue, Woods etc. Footy moves on..

You make too much sense for this forum. Thank you for this thought out post.

Benji didn't get what he wanted, but management did. And they'll try to tell you they are disappointed he is leaving when it was the plan all along.

You beauty, the Tigers can now play like every other robot team in the NRL. Benji brought something special to the game and to e Tigers and now it is lost.

Good luck to him I hope he kills it in Rugby.

Its all about damage control. Public opinion seems to be backing the club and the stance they have taken, rather than the stances Benji has taken, and Benji going to need to be the good guy and not the bad guy if he is going to continue to cash in on his name.

The more I think of it the more I think its a good move for Benji and probably a good move for the club. I just hope he really creams it at rugby and dosnt fall on his face.

whatever his reasons are,i don't really care.it's his life and he can do as he pleases.
my opinion, his worth would have kept going down at the tigers.potter isn't the coach for benji.when potter said when hired that we needed to earn the right to spread it wide was the end of benji at the tigers.
the wests tigers game transformed early in the season to a dour one out game.potter decided to work on the process instead of results, sacrificing short term for long term growth.

benji is a square peg in a round hole at wests tigers.without the 5 year security with humpty benji had to leave for the good of everyone.

Puhlease. So playing robot like and making the the finals doesn't appeal to you.

Razzle dazzle doesn't win comps anymore. Benji did bring something special to the game but not for a while.

Disgruntled star players are bad apples. It's best for the club. Not sure about you but I followed balmain and now wests tigers club. Not the players.

Asked why he had made the call to leave the club he helped to a premiership win in 2005, Marshall said: ''It's a combination of a lot of things. A lot of my friends have left, my close friends, over the past couple of years, who were on contract, who were pushed out. People go on about the fact that I had two more years on my contract, and that I'm walking out … some of my teammates who left had agreed to contracts and were pushed out. But that's OK?

His sook-a-thon continues.

Like I said before…GAGF!

This article just goes to show Benji is still a baby. Man up you made a decision play your heart out for the rest of the year and that would silence his critics and change the opinion of a couple of people. His constant need to talk and sook has killed my opinion of him along time ago. It's the same crap in the media, it's the same crap on the field. Honestly who does this guy think he is.The club should be glad to see the back of him. Whilst we should respect his achievements we should also realise with him there in this frame of mind the club would never move forward. IMO top decision for all involved

yeah, because better for his family that he is unemployed for 2014 and 2015 where he could be earning 1.5million from management who were 'untrustworthy'.

he's full of crap.

I don't think he is full of crap. I do think that he isn't thinking right. I think he is disappointed in his form and is concerned that he doesn't have it in him anymore and is sick of the rightful criticism but doesn't know what to do about it.

The money he was expecting is delusional. The club is better off. His manager though is a goose. Maybe his wife and friends are gooses as well because someone should say something to him.

Good luck to the bloke. Hope he makes a good go of it in Union and can move on and enjoy life. Wests Tigers as a club will be fine.

So poor old Benji can't play with his mates, what a sob story. How much more spoiled can you be? i'd love to be able to work with my mates, but if i was earning close to a million a yr that would be a nice consolation. For all the great stuff he's done on the field, off the field he does all he can to paint the club in a bad light with his childish attitude, and this club will be much better off when he leaves. And hopefully he takes Moltzen with him, the last remaining survivor of the boys club left to be shown the door. We need a coach who calls the shots, not one who kowtows to the star player and his mates. We all know thats why he's leaving, cos he's throwing all his toys out of the cot, which makes it even more confusing why there are people here calling others lowlifes for actually being glad this day has come.

What a load of rubbish still talking about his mates being shown the door , tell the real truth why you are leaving because its all about you you and that's not the case anymore at the club , and you are way past and know it , between you and your manager the dribble that comes out is a joke you have been negotiating for three years with Rugby and you know exactly where you are going and how much money you will earn.Do us a favour and go now.

Who else is eagerly (or cringingly) awaiting tomorrow's Footy Show sulk?

The one on one interview …

Will it be the serious discussion with Gus in the studio, or will it be the tear-fest in the park with that blonde girl? Maybe they will mix it up and have Gus sit with him in the park.

I like Benji as a player, actually I have worshipped him for many years, so I just hope he keeps some class about him and doesn't come across like a sook/whinger/knob on the show tonight.

Still coming to terms with the fact he won't be here next year...

If you had told anyone twelve months ago that Sheens, Humphreys, Benji, Ayshford, Beau Ryan, Heighno, Pettybourne, Miller (probably some I am forgetting too) would not be in the black and gold anymore, i'd think you had just escaped from Callan Park!

If he were a true clubman he'd be honest with everyone and say his form wasn't up to scratch and until it was, he wasn't thinking about his contract which had another 2 yrs to run. He's in it for himself and always has been. He come even before Farah re-signed with this rubbish. The club is trying to re-sign its captain and most valuable player and he pops his head out of the ground ''hey don't forget about me, its all about me me me'', instead of letting nature take its course. You want true clubmen look at Farah, Lawrence and Fulton. You wouldn't get any two guys tighter than Fults and Gibbs but Fulton got on with it. Hell he was even joking around wIth Gibbs on facebook about it

If he goes on that idiotic show for the second time in a row before a Friday night game in breach of club policy then drop him, cost him his 200 games.

So we get another piss-poor Leichhardt crowd and get beaten? I don't think that will help the club much. It's just silly doing that sort of thing if you want decent performances for the rest of the year. Like or not, it effects team morale.

Bingo… Good Luck with your future Benji.

Can we now put this circus to bed and get on with winning the next 8 straight!

Sorry but club policy is there for everyone.

They should have dropped him before the Sharks game for doing it as well

We already did …... Oh you mean the Tigers sorry :sign:

The article really doesn't say or explain a lot. I don't see the point in complaining about your mates being pushed out and leaving the club when here you are, walking out on the remainder…....

It also doesn't make much sense to throw away a confirmed 2 years of playing to possibly no chance of playing, unless he's already signed on elsewhere.....

He's come off looking bad and unfortunately, this article hasn't made things that much better.

Still reckon in years to come, he'll regret this decision.
