West Harbour Rugby

Not being rude but prayers aren’t working, neither is your new coach.
What are the major issues ?
Champion @Halbrowne61, outside looking in with new players, new structures, new coaching etc etc, there seems to be a lack of pace in the backs - the shining light is that no team has dominated the forwards in set plays (which is a biggie with rah rahs) - the line outs and scrums are solid.

But to hazard a guess as to the "issues, " imo, there's only been one match where they looked really in the game on their terms, so maybe the coaching staff have a plan and it's still coming together.
The challenges are not just 1st grade. the lack of confidence goes down the grades.

Still hangin' in. 🙏

🤞🤞🤞🤞thanks for that summary, let’s hope they can turn it around. I know about rugby piggies, but I was a fleet footed back, you know clean gear gets the girls . Lol.

Good luck TO, although aren’t they the table toppers ? Maybe the weather will level things out.
Blake can revert to box kicks and keeping it tight. Nothing flash !
And this week's rain has forced the home game to be transferred from Concord Oval across the road to St Luke's Oval

Well, well, you tipped it Tiger One, against a serious team.
Good win to the Pirates away from home, and Blake breaks his duck.
Congrats to your boys.

Yes champion @Halbrowne61 - I've been out all day and missed the game 9but will catch up the replay tomorrow morning.
So happy for the result - that's a big monkey off their back so maybe better times ahead. 🙏

Well champion @Halbrowne61 - had a chance to look at the replay and it was worth watching. The early 15 mins was all Souths off the back of the ref (who was pretty much too busy combing his hair at every scrum and reloading his whistle to blow Wests away if he could).
Then go to mid 2nd half at which point Wests had scored 5 tries to 3, no goal went over and they still had a mere 9 point lead, till the game went to the wire for the final score of 31-26.

The refreshing part was that STAN then interviewed the West Harbour captain who did not sweeten the season to date, spoke factually about their performances and of the team's accountability. This reaffirmed my faith in the core of this great game at club level - it really interests me more than the rep teams.

Heart and spirit and results will follow.

A strong weekend of rugby for the West Harbour Pirates

WOW!
Phil Blake replaced as coach of West Harbour in a mid-season revamp.
WOW!!

West Harbour - New Coaching Appointments

We’re excited to announce the appointment of Ben Rutherford as our new First Grade Coach and Mark Gudmunson to the newly created position of Club Coach.

Ben joined us as First Grade Forwards Coach last year with impressive experience including time with Sydney Uni, Randwick and the Australian Rugby Union Academy. Under his watch our forwards have been a shining light in a tough season and he has proved himself to be a strong leader with all the attributes required to step up and lead our First Grade team.

Mark is a club legend and former First Grade Coach and will leverage his deep experience to mentor Ben and the wider coaching team.

As part of these changes Phil Blake’s time with the club has come to an end and we thank him for the contribution he’s made during his time at the club.

We’re confident that these changes and the hard work already done will lead to improved performance by First Grade in the second half of the season and beyond. First Grade performances aside, the club is continuing to get stronger with improved ladder positions in other grades and colts and a lot of positive things happening off the field. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Pirate Community including coaches, managers, volunteers, staff and sponsors for their commitment and hard work and look forward to enjoying more on-field success with you.
