you reminded me about the salesman thing i said LOL.

i did read alad's post.. he wasn't in the rbb

No it's best not to go straight into the RBB. It's a bit difference to everywhere else and you are expected to sing and chant. There are people (everyone else) who encourage you to do so if you don't contribute. It's best starting from the outside and working your way in.

LOL you are dogmatic Allan I'll give you that!

This thread has gone on for 160+ posts now, roughly half of them from you big noting and defending this supporters group. It would appear to me that the more important argument is that this club, in its first year, won the minor premiership and made the GF. That as a supporter is something to be proud of. Have you even mentioned this fact? If you have it has been glossed over as your primary focus has been on defending and spreading the word about a supporters group who certainly give the impression that they think what they do in the stands is more important than what happens out on the field.

Maybe I just dont understand soccer culture. One would assume you would have been more into promoting the WSW over the RBB but that does not seem the case.

I have been promoting the club by telling you and other forum members to come watch a game and experience everything the Wanderers have for yourself.

I have also been defending the club and the RBB from instances where it's clear there are very different cultures between the games. Perhaps the difference in these cultures is too big to understand for some.

I'm not defending idiots. Every group has them. I'm defending the reputation of the many who are being let down by a couple of idiots. If I saw wrong, I would act when I saw it and I could tell you of these instances. I just haven't seen any.

I find it hard to celebrate on a forum where it seems next to no one understands the culture of the game or the club, and really no one wants to give it an opportunity to. Aladinsane did and he is keen to watch them at Parramatta Stadium next season.

I guess I'm preaching to those who aren't necessarily interested. This is a topic about the Wanderers though and I must say I did expect to find at least one forum member who was a keen member/supporter of the Wanderers.

Team news for next season. No Dino Kressinger, Tarek Elrich, Joey Gibbs and Rocky Visconte.

Dino was never going to stay and Tarek I thought would struggle to get a new deal but I'm surprised about the other 2\. Gibbs is a young bloke and has done well. Visconte was one of the few left side players and played pretty well.
Will be interested to see who Popovic buys in their place.

Any news on where they're headed? I'd take Kresinger at FC.

Apparently Dino has flown home to Croatia already but that doesn't necessarily mean he can't be scouted somewhere else next A-League season. I doubt it though with only scoring 2 goals in the season past.

Elrich was looking for more game time so he may get picked-up somewhere. He was behind a few guys in the pecking order.

Gibbs is a young bloke and played okay but fell out of favour. He could find a home somewhere but I'll think he'll end up in NSWPL.

Visconte should be able to find himself a club. He's quick and left footed. There aren't too many of them in the country. I'm pretty surprised he wasn't resigned.

i would have kept visconte and released the rest. joey gibbs is not an a-league player. too weak and very easily played off the ball. if wanderers can pick up a reasonable striker to blend with bridge then the wanderers will go one better next season.

I liked Visconte too. There aren't too many left footers in the squad and he was one.

Matt Simon, Brent McGrath, Alex Brosque and Corey Gamiero are the names I've heard come up as possible replacements.

I don't think Popovic is looking for an overseas player as it will affect the Asian Champions League. The squads in that can have 3 foreigners plus an Asian foreigner. Obviously Ono is a certainty and it leaves Poljak, Hersi, Polenz and La Rocca fighting for the other 3 spots.

The above is a video of the RBB at a wheelchair football game between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners. The young blokes were thrilled to be playing with the atmosphere from all reports. It's just a really good moment.

Parramatta and the Western Sydney Wanderers might be cross-code rivals, but they have joined forces in their campaign for a better stadium.

Eels officials have been in talks with their Wanderers counterparts about their future venue needs, with a revamp of Parramatta Stadium or the construction of a new facility in the region their preference. The teams are in heated competition for fans, members and sponsors, but they have found common ground in their desire to provide them with the best possible amenities. Both have ambitions of building membership bases that far outstrip the 20,000-seat capacity of their current premises.

Eels chief executive Ken Edwards, who has extensive experience in stadiums strategy as the former chief executive of ANZ Stadium, confirmed he was in talks with Wanderers officials. ''We've had some discussions with the Wanderers around what their plans and what our plans are,'' Edwards said. ''Our public position is that Parramatta is our home and where we always want to be. At the end of 2012 we had 12,000 members and now we have 16,000 members. Our market research, coupled with the work we've done with the NRL, tells us we should have up to 40,000 members by 2017.

''That obviously brings into sharp focus our stadium issues in terms of capacity and the facilities that go with it. Parramatta Stadium was built in the '80s, and pretty much nothing has happened to it since then. In the meantime, there have obviously been redevelopments at ANZ Stadium and Allianz Stadium, meaning that, as a club, unless there are upgrades at Parramatta Stadium we are at a significant financial disadvantage and our members aren't getting the sorts of facilities other members are getting. Anything that we and the Wanderers can do to get a better facility at Parramatta Stadium - or a new facility somewhere in Parramatta - is a good thing.''

Parramatta have managed to grow their membership base during difficult times on the field - they ''won'' the wooden spoon last year - while attendances for home matches remain fairly stable. However, the Wanderers became the hottest ticket in town during their fabled run to the A-League grand final. Their supporter group, the Red and Black Bloc, grew exponentially throughout the club's debut season, and Football Federation Australia boss David Gallop is on record as calling for an upgrade of Parramatta Stadium ''based on the phenomenal success of the Wanderers in year one which has seen three sold-out matches''.

The NSW government has outlined a stadium consolidation strategy, with ARL Commission boss David Smith confirming there will be a move towards playing matches in two or three larger venues in future. The Eels also plan to create a centre of excellence to replace their aged training facilities.

Asked if they could share a high-performance unit with the Wanderers, Edwards said: ''It's very difficult to share high-performance facilities, there aren't too many examples that we're aware of where that works. Our rugby league high-performance training requirements are very different to those of football. That's not to say it couldn't work … While have been having some informal discussions with the Wanderers we haven't done anything formal with them. We're still pursuing our own stand-alone high-performance community centre.''

The stadium could do with an upgrade but money could be better used elsewhere. I'm not a fan of stadium upgrades when we have so many hospitals and roads where the money could be much better used.

I renewed my membership today for next season.

I think a couple of my mates may miss out on the RBB section which will all be yearly members this season. Previous members (including a couple game members) get first crack and I don't think they'll make it in before all the RBB memberships are exhausted. Not becoming a member last year has hurt them this season.

Panthers takeover bid of Wanderers rejected

THE Penrith Panthers have failed with a bid to buy the Western Sydney Wanderers, prompting Football Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop to describe it as further evidence of the "juggernaut" the A-League club has become in western Sydney and Australian sport.

The Wanderers, whose inaugural season exceeded even the wildest expectations of the FFA, are up for sale and believed to be valued at about $15 million.

It is understood the Panthers Group expressed an interest in buying the club but was quickly rejected.

Gallop made it clear the club would not end up in the hands of a rugby league club - as well as running a host of leagues clubs, the Panthers operate Penrith's NRL side.

"The Wanderers sale process has always been about achieving the right price and, very importantly, the right owners," Gallop said.

"The community engagement remains a fundamental element of the club and we have given assurances to the fans that the name, colours and culture of the Wanderers will be protected in this process.

"We have to make decisions in the best interests of Australian football, the A-League competition and the Wanderers."

Western Sydney has become one of the key battlegrounds in Australian sport. As well as being home to the Wanderers, it also hosts AFL club Greater Western Sydney and NRL sides Penrith, Parramatta, Canterbury and the Wests Tigers.

In their first year of existence, the Wanderers more than held their own. Based at Parramatta Stadium, the club played to full houses and qualified for the A-League grand final, only to lose to the Central Coast Mariners.

Their success puts the FFA in a strong position. Hence the decision to reject the approach from the Panthers Group.

"Why would we contemplate selling the Wanderers to a club from another code?" Gallop said.

"In fact, why would a club from another code want to invest their money and build up a rival? It must be taken as another sign of the juggernaut that the Wanderers have become in western Sydney and Australian sport."

I must say I agree with Gallop about not selling to the Panthers Group.

Parramatta really has taken the Wanderers under their wings and things progressed really well. The city is a buzz on game day and public transport to and from Para is much easier then if they were to move out to Penrith.

Has anyone been at any of the trial matches this season? I went to the match out at Campbelltown against Macarther Rams and then last night out to Seven Hills against the Phoenix. I'm looking forward to this season even more with the disappointment of the Tigers season.

So what was FFA's view when Tinkler owned the Knights and the Jets? Should the NRL consider letting Tony Sage (owner of Perth Glory) own a Perth NRL team?

I can see the argument of not wanting an enemy too close, but then I hardly see soccer and NRL being enemies, unlike NRL and AFL or union.

I can also see the argument of not wanting to move the Wanderers to Penrith. That would surely have a dampening effect on what they achieved in their first season.

Was at Sevo to see the game against Wellington. Love how the RBB went from loud to dead silent when the bottle was thrown on the field. On a brighter note, Santalab looks the goods.
