Wests Magpies may become extinct

Gobbs i totally agree with your comments.

What annoys me is some of the comments ive read are 1 sided and some people have very short memorys.

In 2003 when sheens started with us he said we should merge our 2nd tier and so did lamb when he was coaching so i think it will be the best decision for our club which is the Wests Tigers. It doesnt matter who funds these sides and you hear people that think they know say 1 thing and another that thinks he knows says another so who knows who funds who but it is pointless having 2 sides and if theres anyone out there that goes to both has a hell of alot of time on their hands.

I'm not that young. I am 30\. As far as I know Wests Ashfield are doing well and aren't having any problems funding the Wests Magpies side. If Wests Tigers aren't spending any money on the feeder clubs now and they would have to if there was to be a Wests Tigers NSW Cup team then how is that a good thing? I don't know if Ryde Eastwood wants to keep spending as much on the Balmain Ryde Eastwood side but that isn't Wests' problem. If Balmain can't afford a side in the NSW Cup then keep Wests Magpies in the NSW Cup and let that be the 1 feeder club for Wests Tigers. You know it makes sense.

u should support both teams.

you seem to be forgetting that we are now 2 clubs not just the magpies

well i do go to alot of their games so i guess i do.

im not forgetting anything

If there is only going to be one team it would have to carry the Wests Tigers name. You couldn't have Balmain without Wests or vice versa. Well if there is going to be a merger of the state cup teams I can't wait for the mega thread as to who should be cut and who will make the new team! I can see a lot of fan favourites being left out.

I'd say at least 70% of the current players in both State Cup Teams will gone to Bundy Red Cup. The object of the merged identity in State Cup will be to have a platform for the 20's and NRL Contracted Players to play together as a gateway to NRL…

It makes sence, but sad all the same. I dont know much about the Bundy Red Cup so its hard to say if it suits both BRET & Wests?

Cunno why would we need an Under 23's comp? An Under 20's comp is fine. A player who is too old for the Under 20's next year can play for Wests Magpies or Balmain Ryde Eastwood in the NSW Cup.

You are swimming against the tide on this one. Most experts agree that the U/20's needs to be changed to an older age bracket especially given most forwards, most notably props, don't mature until their mid 20s.

I think they would rather go to another NSW Cup team than play in the Bundy Red Cup.

Well if they aren't ready for firstgrade then why can't they play in the NSW Cup? If they make it Under 23's then most of the players in that comp will be 23 ,22 or 21 years old. So we would still need an Under 20's comp anyway.

Ofcourse we could. If Wests Ashfield can afford to fund Wests Magpies in the NSW Cup and Balmain can't afford to fund their team in the NSW Cup then that isn't Wests' problem. Wests Tigers are playing 4 home games away from Leichhardt and Campbelltown because they need the money. Wests Tigers having to pay for a NSW Cup team will just be another excuse.

You didn't read Gobbs post a couple up did you,,,Alien

Wests Ashfield will side with the Wests Tigers…..And fund that State Cup team instead....

If Wests Ashfield funds it by themselves then the team shouldn't be called Wests Tigers. Wests and Balmain are meant to be paying equal amounts.

They are equal in the position of Shareholding etc, but funding can be rerived from various parties. Wests Ashfields simply might see the financial viability of Funding a successfull football team under the Tiger Brand to increase its traffic generation for its own existence, which is pretty much Licensed Clubs?

Magpies as a Sporting Brand in the National Sporting Arena of Rugby League is extinct…

Reminds me of a episode of Seinfeld. A topic about nothing.

An article written by a journalist still bitter of been thrown out of the sheds at Newcastle.

We finally make the semis after five years in the wilderness and this is the most popular thread on the forum.

Looks like we havent moved forward much at all.

Not if you pay close enough attention to the Joint Venture club's onfield playing strip. Maybe in a licensed sense, yes, however from a memorial aspect, it's far from dead nor extinct. Forever on the sleeves as written in the constitution of the Joint Venture agreement.
