@wtfl1981 said:Sorry.. Stuffed up my post. I was told last week at wests ashfield that the leagues club will support a wests magpies team for 2012\. Assuming that balmain cannot field a side for 2012 then the magpies should be feeder side for WT. Who will return to the magpies from bret and other clubs? Who can we expect as fringe players from wt?

That's good news if it comes to fruition in regard to the Magpies. Not sure that Balmain are done and dusted yet though.

West magpies will field a nsw cup side and wests tigers will also field a side based out of leichhardt oval. Wests magpies nsw cup side will not feed into wt. Leo epfiana will coach wt nsw cup side. Still a messy structure. We shall see what pans out for 2012

Where's this coming from? Last I heard Balmain still had a team with Fletcher as the coach, but Epifana was out of Wests and had some role with WT…..

Greetings fellow Magpies.
RE: the future of the Magpies, a few things.
Firstly Wests Ashfield Leagues Club have agreed to provided financial support after much debate & negotiation. It is significantly less than what was provided in previous years, but something is better than nothing.
Secondly, the new 'Board' is working on an arrangement for 2012 (and possibly beyond) that will see the Magpies remain at the Second-Tier level of the game which is NSW Cup. Both the Harold Matthews & SG Ball Teams remain also, but are currently being managed and run by Wests Tigers.
Thirdly, this arrangement that will be announced when finalised (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) will ensure a bright future for Magpies and continue to ensure the Football Club will continue to thrive and prosper without the assistance of Wests Tigers (Not there is any forth coming anyway)
RE: Leo & Steve. Both men were not shown the door. Leo has taken on a Coaching role at Wests Tigers (most likely will be directly involved with their new Wests Tigers Team which will house ALL contracted Wests Tigers NRL/NYC Players)
The inept performance of the Board & Management are that and a thing of the past. Please ensure, the newly assembled Board has been working tirelessly to ensure that not only will the Magpie 'Brand' exist in the NSW Cup, but to ensuring the Football Club remains viable and remains in existence for hopefully another 104 years.
The 'new' Board can only apologise for the errors and poor decisions of the past. Self interest, self preservation, personal agenda's limited the power the Football Club has had when it come to fighting for Equality and Fairness for representation and really just a 'fair go'.
What's important from the Football Club's perspective is now getting supporters and fans to make the step and transition of becoming members of the Football Club. The more members, the more power we as a Club, the Board will have against the powers trying to kill us off, namely in our own Leagues Clubs, Ashield and Campbelltown who have aligned themselves with Balmain and vote as a consensus against the Football Club on all important issues RE: the Joint Venture.
As you may or may not know, the Football Club is 1 of 3 shareholders in what is known as a the 'Wests Group' that is a 50% Shareholder of Wests Tigers Rugby League Football Pty Ltd. The other 2 shareholders within the Wests Group are of course both Wests Leagues Clubs, in Ashfield and Campbelltown, both who align themselves to the Balmain Group, when it comes time to vote of decisions such as having 'one brand' and 'one NSW Cup' team.
Balmain might want to become Wests Tigers and surrender any history and tradition they have left, but the Magpies sure as hell aren't. The Football Club still sees itself as a crucial part of the Wests Tigers Joint Venture as well as its responsibility of servicing and providing the juniors of the Campbelltown/Macarthur District and pathway and an avenue to play Rugby League at the highest level, hopefully NRL, be it with Wests Tigers or another NRL franchise.
Please ensure, the new Board will not lie down, will not give in and fight for the Magpies to remain as the Western Suburbs District Football Club Ltd as it has done since February 4th 1908.
MAGPIES FOREVER!!!
