Wests sign Joel Edwards

He's played nearly 90 games in five years, he's not a fringe first grader. Much better signing than the usual riff raff cast off reserve grade signings we usually get.

Everyone bagging the signing, i'd be interested to go back and read your reactions to when we signed Taupau and Austin.

Are you implying that he will be as good as them two?

He has the potential….

Interesting signing.
No doubt we need forwards.
We could have done a lot worse.

Interested to see how this turns out.

Good signing a forward who can tackle…always handy...liked him at the Knights and the Raiders....Welcome aboard Joel...honest and hard working backrower...

What I think I like best though is him along with Addo-Carr and Rankin is the NEWS has come from Wests Tigers ....the Lurker's and Mole's of this world seem to be out of the loop...

I am really impressed with our signings so far. We are focused on fringe first graders looking for a permanent first grade opportunity. Rankin, Chee kam, Edwards and the full back from Saints are all good quality signings with first grade experience, just like Marty when he came over.

I am stoked that we are signing players capable of playing regular first grade. Edwards is an excellent defender, and attacking players know he has hit them. We needed someone opposition players are afraid to run at. This will clean up our ruck. Another couple of similar players and we will look good for 2016.

I don't get the love for Ava. Good player, not great. Should be a lot more devastating for his size. We don't know the type of money he is asking for and for what you get from him it may not be worth it. I would like to keep him because we have lost size in Galloway, but if he leaves so be it.

Why not?

Both Austin and Taupau were very young and had barely got a chance at FG at their respective clubs for various reasons. Lots of untapped potential on both. Chee Kam may fall into this category - let's hope so.

On the other hand, Edwards is 27 and has played approx. 100 FG games. Unless he's an extremely late bloomer, we know what we're getting with him - solid in D but not much else.
As it happens, that's pretty much what we need, so I'm on board.

I wonder if Canberra are paying part of his contract. I am sure he was re-signed by Canberra till 2017.

Good signing. Real worker who has some mongrel and defensive technique is solid.
signings of Ado Carr, Chee Kam, Hunt, Rankin, Edwards are good well done JT and Moss.

Solid enough signing I guess. We would be a much better side if we had a pack of ho-hum forwards that basically just churn out the same performance every week compared to our current pack that plays like Internationals one week and busteds for the next 3\. Best of luck Joel, hope you are prepared for all the dramas and BS that goes with being involved with the mighty WT.

On Raiders web-site signed for 2017 so wouldn't be a nice change for another club to be paying part of our player's contract.

CB you seem to be way up GNR's backside, give it a break.

The point youre missing milko is we dont know just how new recruits will turn out, until the pull our jersey on….people should at least give the guy a go before judging either way

Im pretty impressed with all the budget signing thus far with an empty bank account. All are hungry and begging for a first grade crack. Offloaded a lot of dead wood on big money the last few years and replaced with fringe players, by 2017 and 2018 we should be able to buy a top 4 finish.

I'm not against the signing ink,i just don't see him blossoming so late in his career, he will be another Lovett at best but i am happy to eat my words.
