Jacob Liddle - Rookie of the Year? I thought Suli for sure!

Crazy decision. I just cant understand the love for this bloke. It feels like Broses all over again.

Maybe and I say maybe - just for the first time in history -

You maybe wrong - maybe he is going to be a champion - guess we'll see.

Maybe he will be. My point is, a lot of people talk about him as if he _already is_ a champion and has locked down the hooking role for next year. I see zero evidence that he has done so yet seeing him awarded the rookie of the year gong suggests that the club also feels this way. It is exactly the same way Brooks and Moses were talked about when they came into grade. 5 years on and Brooksy still struggles to control a game whilst Moses was terribly inconsistant until he went to Parra and became a downhill skier. I hope Liddle does work out. Was he the best debutant for the side this year? No. I dont think he was even top 3.

Eisenhuth should of been Rookie OTY. Then Suli (or McIlwrick if he qualified). All of those should of been in front of Liddle, odd decision to pick him IMO. Didn't really do anything this year. Very strange.

Elijah Taylor - I cried! He is such a wonderful human! Congratulations! 2018 is gonna be awesome!

To me it should have been the huth or marsters….all liddle was good at was throwing forward passes.

Think he played more games this year than Lolo, Huth, Twal, Suli and Marsters - that gave him a head start but the choice is subjective. I don't think he has anywhere near the hype that Brooks and Moses had on them.

The point is - is he the best hooker in the club. Imo, Yes. His opposition is McIlwrick (non creative, and basically a non runner and non kicker, but a good defender) - people are suggesting Reynolds for 2018 (probably a better kicking game and a bit more up top, average defender) - there is no one else unless you are scraping the barrel with ET.

Liddle is super quick, a runner from DH, good passing game, good defender - the only thing he needs to work on is his kicking game and building a bit more muscle.

Don't think anyone that will be at the club in 2018 comes anywhere near him Stryker.

Lot different playing no9 to playing 3 or 4\. Bar one game when everlbddle came on the team looked ten times sharper. If it was my choice I may have gone for Huth, but Iam happy with Liddle

Congrat's ET!

All the players talk so positively about Ivan - even Woods who is leaving.

It's great to finally have a coach that the players respect and want to play for - ET is a classic example.

I'd say with the relationship he has with the coach, ET will be captain. Can't underestimate the captain and coach being so firmly on the same page.

Nice timing.
Presentation night, Coach & CEO Q&A
Usually the week after Rd 26 you dont hear a peep from the club….like a cowering dog in the corner with its tail between its legs
Sweet end to another garbage year
Nice timing

Haha Jamal should get that award. He has sat on his arse most of the year, might as well visit some hospitals.

Jamal, don't take any notice of our Disturbed poster - he thinks that he is Walter Sobchack.

Me too - I was very surprised that Liddle picked up the award as he has only played a handful of games, whereas Masters played more and got a few tries to boot :crazy very strange :unamused:

Huth played 11 NRL games (0 tries) and Marsters played 13 NRL games (5 tries).

Liddle has played 13 NRL games (+ 1 in 2016) - 4 tries.

So much for Marsters playing more games and I don't think tries has anything to do with the award really.

Just MHO but I would suggest minutes played would be a more reliable metric. That aside, he won the award so good luck to him. The fact we're discussing it means there were several in the running and that can only be a good thing for the future.

Thanks - point taken V of R. Another way of looking at it - as well as minutes played would be the amount of those minutes being involved in the game. Not many players are in the game as much as a DH.

The fact that some thought Liddle didnt play much this year shows that he really didnt stand out. Macca has the front running for 9 next year.
