Do not like quoting what comes out of the Telecrap but this morning had quote Cleary could be at the Tigers as early as next week ! Also stated the board will give him FULL control over football dept and all recruitment ..just looks like he and club have to work out a deal and he will accept the challenge .Interesting side note Cleary would be sizing which of the 4 off contract players he would retain.

Personally I think he'll get the gig. Makes sense, he's the most qualified and able to dig the team out of the hole they are in.

Read into it what you will.

_"I am proud of my dad for securing a job as a coach again.. i can't wait for the banter in the house and to play against him"_

We all know its going to happen(Cleary appointment) …but "CEO of the Year" Pascoe is allowing the club to drift along by holding back the announcement...sheez I'm disliking that man more and more everyday!

You do realise that the "announcement" doesn't really do anything. Cleary can start work before the announcement; maybe he already has!

Its been 5 days

5 days is nothing. Remember how long it took Pascoe to announce ET's signing?

Yeah. They must have sent the press release by carrier pigeon.

More to the point you have to negotiate a contract with Cleary. So if you come out on Day 1 and say Ivan Cleary is the best man for the job and the only one we want then he can write his own cheque. Jesus i'm glad none of you work for me. As for the Nathan Cleary bit could be true or could have just been giving the old man (don't swear please) esp given they still share a house.

Hope it's true. As I said before, if Cleary comes then kiss the "Big 4" goodbye. We will only see the face of Tedesco and possibly woods again.

Why?

Apprently Moses has been offered 900k by the Dogs, if you think Cleary, or any coach in the right mind would match that then goodluck.

Brooks, well no explination really needed. Unless he picks up his game DRAMATICALLY then he has no future in this game, he is poor in all facets of his game. The only thing I can really applaud is his short kicking game. If he really wants 900 aswell then goodness me.

I think you're reaching there, Milk. I reckon he'll keep at least 3, maybe 4.

Pascoe has apparently come out and stated that cleary is our priority.

Rumour has it, Cleary will be announced as coach within 48 hours, taking over on monday.

The deal is a 3 year deal with 2 years in one parties favour, not sure which one.

OK, so it seems the 5 coaches in the running are Cleary, Payten, Toovey, Webster and Daley. I'm really not sold on any of them:

Cleary- 49% win record doesn't really have me all that excited. He had a lot of quality players in the sides from 2006-2011 and wasn't able to get them a grand final win. 4 years with the panthers and they only had 1 season over 50%. Supposed to be a nice bloke and good manager of his players but isn't that what Poetter was.
Payten- Unknown quantity, well liked by some of the players which could be a positive or a negative. I know people are saying they don't want a rookie coach which is fair enough but the Cowboys are doing pretty well with their rookie coach who they took a chance on a few years ago. Manly and St George have coaches they took on as rookies. Now neither of those teams are going fantastically but we wouldn't be the first team to take a punt.
Toovey- For me he is a myth. Good tough player but as a coach he was gifted a championship side and had a few good years. Was dumped after 1 bad season and spat the dummy continually when his team get the call he wanted. I believe he baby sat that side and if not for the good work of Des Hasler in setting the side up he wouldn't have been as successful. For me he is a goose.
Webster- Same as Payten.
Daley- Tough to come up against the QLD side for 3 games a year on limited preperation. Not sure how he would go over a whole season and without having quality players in every position. I think he would be found wanting.

I don't know if Webster is a long term coach but i would like to see how he goes with the side before we make a decision.

As for Cleary….Would you take over as coach and get flogged by the storm first week? Why would you do that?

You can scratch Daley, Toovey and Webster. I'd be stunned if Payten was appointed from here. It's going to be Cleary.

Knowing our recent history, I'd much rather face Storm than Raiders or Panthers.

Surely the 2 years are in our favour.

Ivan Cleary Agrees to Terms with Wests Tigers

Ivan Cleary is understood to have agreed to terms with the Wests Tigers.

Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe confirmed that Cleary was the clubs No.1 priority and it is reported that they have got their man.

The Deal is believed to be a 3-year deal with a two year option, effectively making it a 5 year deal.

Cleary will given full reigns to turn the club around and will have total control on player contracts and recruitment to the club.

Former Tiger Todd Payten was also in the running as he is much respected by the players and was understood to be the players first choice to coach the club.

The Wests Tigers board believed Ivan Cleary was the clear cut option to take this club forward and turn around what has been a terrible fortnight of rugby league for the club.

Interim coach Andrew Webster will lead the Tigers out this weekend at home on Sunday home at Leichhardt Oval against the Melbourne Storm.

With the contract said to be completed it is understood Cleary will join the Club Monday Morning to take over the reigns and will form his new game plan to take on St George Illawarra in round five, Sunday week.

Cleary will play a big role now in trying to secure the big four, Aaron Woods, James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks.

The Wests Tigers are expected to announce the Cleary signing within the next 48 hours.

Ah well that due diligence and exploring all options was swift…thanks 5th Tackle whoever you are..

Going off the 5th tackle's incredible credentials it will be Matt Parish or the Walker Bros

Lol 18 year olds and Facebook - blah, blah, blah….oops sorry dad!

Although this news is not 'officially' official, it's welcome news indeed. Well done to Pascoe and the Board.
And now we can sit back and see just who Cleary wants to retain and what new blood he endeavours to secure for the club.
I think there will be a lot of very nervous players out there. The old saying of "be careful what you wish for" may very well come to haunt a few of these overpaid under performers.

3 years with a 2 year option. Hmmm.
Can't say that's all that appealing.
I want 2 finals out of the first 3 years in the KPI's.

Good choice. I welcome our chinny new overlord with open arms.

With so few players signed for 2018 and Farrah's money becoming available, he's going to have every opportunity to build the team he wants. Good luck. Supporters are counting on you.
