It was always an each way bet whether Ciraldo would take the job. We are not a club that successfully targets the people we want - especially if they have percieved better options.
Seems Maguire was on the chopping block with Sheens whether Ciraldo was coming or not - what is interesting is whether Sheens was considering the possibility of coaching if the opportunity arose before or after Maguire got the axe. Rothfield always suggested he didn't think Sheens was finished as a coach soon.as Maguire was gone and looks like he could be right.
 
One thing Sheens did as coach was have a clear development pathway. He also built a brand of Tigers football that win, lose or draw we enjoyed watching.

I don’t think he’ll take this group of players anywhere near the 8 next year, but I do think he’ll lay the foundations for the next coach to take over with decent players coming through and a team that knows who they are.

He will then sit down with the Tigers to discuss a potential return to the club.
Parramatta is unlikely to stand in his way. He has another year to run on his deal.

Oh dear. Sheens coaching again. I think people need to forget nostalgia from 15 or so years ago and remember the years of pain we endured with him as coach. We've all moved on and so should he. Even putting him in as caretaker coach will detract from the role he was brought in for. Tbh Tim should not coaching any team again let alone ours.

That post you quoted is me saying who Sheens is investigating.....obviously not Sheens.

3 days later I posted EXACTLY what is going on now and you said I was FOS.

"The Wests Tigers have had their first 4 choices decline the offer. They are now in a holding pattern considering whether to pursue a left of field option or ask Sheens.

If Sheens ends up as our head coach it will only be due to his own catastrophic failure. How on earth could anyone have confidence in a club where the person in charge with signing our new coach fails to get any of the intended targets and ends up recruiting himself for the job he was interviewing candidates for?!
It would make us even more of a laughing stock, and showcase our failure to the world.

He failed with a much stronger squad previously. He's old and crazy ways may help with a head of football role but he's not equipped to be a head coach for any club in 2023
 
Don't mind Sheens coaching if he's the best option atm. My issue is with potentially having Benji and Robbie as assistants, they're not potentially being groomed to take over one day because they're the best candidates, it's because they're legends of the club, I don't see how that's conducive to success, Lambkin, Morris and Kimmorley as understudies I can get behind because they've gone through the lower grades to earn their stripes but Benji and Robbie just seem to be out of desperation to get the media and fan base on side if it happens like that I think it's a brain-dead decision.
 
Great idea the only choice for one year bring along long term coach for 24 but of course the disrespect he will receive by certain people on this site is nothing more than a pile of crap,we all no who are the gods gifts to the internet and they just keep giving.

Agree Nofoaloma is starved for ball on right previous 2 or 3 games not even one decent draw and pass to him on rightside
He got a remarkable try on right against dogs a couple of weeks ago but that was from a miscued kick. We mostly go left in attack
