Wests Tigers Coaches

Born in the Tigers Way

Born in a dead man’s town
The first pass I saw yeah it hit the ground
You support a club who’s been beat too much
And spend your whole life covering it up

Born in the Tigers Way etc

Got into a rugby league jam
So they put a membership in my hand
Had to support and be a fan
No one told me it wasn’t a plan

Born the Tigers Way etc

Had a friend who liked to yarn
About his Panther team and Ivan
Were still here, Madge is gone

Another game, we’re on our knees
Now the club wants Timmy Sheens
Ciraldo, woolfy, now could be Brown
Why so fekked up, I don’t understand

This one reflects the sense of hopelessness I feel at the moment. Anyway..

Wests Tigers supremo Tim Sheens has indicated to the club that he is willing to step into the hot seat and coach the club next season.
Sources with knowledge of the situation told the Herald that Wests Tigers powerbrokers have approached Sheens to see if he has any interest in returning to NRL coaching a decade after he was sacked by the club.

While the Tigers are still exploring their coaching options for next year, there has been huge support from club greats for Sheens to fill the void created by Michael Maguire’s sackingearlier this season.
The club has approached Sheens to gauge his appetite and are considering offering him the job for next season.

The club knows the 71-year-old would be a short-term solution. He would help get the club back on track and mentor a group of assistants, eventually grooming one of them to take over when he finishes up in a couple of years.
The Tigers are also considering making an offer to Eels forward Nathan Brown to join the club. Brown was recently granted a release from his management company Ignite Sports, which is led by Joe and Johnathan Wehbe.
Brown, who returned to the NRL against the Tigers on Saturday nightafter a stint in reserve grade, is currently in discussions with other agents.
He will then sit down with the Tigers to discuss a potential return to the club.
Parramatta is unlikely to stand in his way. He has another year to run on his deal.

You got to wonder whether that was Sheens plan all along once the decision was made to remove Maguire.Or is it simply that no one that they have targeted wants the job.
If Sheens is the man then at least he can get to work pronto. We all better hope that he is capable of getting it done because the power in relation to footy matters is all in his hands. The board that sacked him originally if any are still around gotta be shaking their heads in disbelief.

Did you miss the bit where it says from next year....
- When we'll get our 2 best players.
Surely he gets in there now if that's what he's doing.

Seriously though, He couldn't get his 2 best players here to follow his gameplan,
How is he going to teach them to coach in such a short time.

This stinks

It seems he can do as he likes. The club has virtually handed him the keys.

opportunism? it was the board who wanted Madge sacked. Does his pay packet double with a 5 year deal as well?

Id be open to the idea of Sheens taking over next year and then making a big play for Payton who's off contract in 2024.

Announce Sheens now so that we can get some what on track with recruitment and then make the play for Payton after Nov 1. Offer 4 years, with Sheens working closely in 23 to Payton's wishes - theres our 5 year plan. If Cowboys release early, Sheens reverts back to head of football.

If he says no, we have all off season to find a young upcommer to work under Sheens next year in prep for the main gig.
