Wests Tigers confirm Gibbs and Fifita departure

Sad to see Gibbs leave, you can tell he loves this place but as Smeg said, the long term future he secured for his young family was the right decision by him. He probably doesn't have too many years left and who can blame a man for grabbing every cent while he can.

Good luck in the future to both players.

Best of luck to both the guys. Especially hope Gibbs does well, by the sounds of things he didn't want to leave.

I think Fifita is the first young player we've lost that we probably wanted to keep since Sheens was here.

So we now have Mckinnon, Payten, Gibbs, and Fifita all gone at the end of the season. With a couple of others likely to follow, surely we must have a lot more cash than whats required to sign Blair and upgrade the contracts of juniors.

Sad to see them go but especially gibbs who has been with the tigers all his life and i am sure he would rather stay. With fifita i dont think we could have matched the sharks offer as they have some spare cash and will pay overs to get what they want. good lucj to both. will be a very intersting game when we play the sharkss next year.

its gonna be weird seeing Gibbs playing against us

It's going to be great IMO. I can see him being a jilted ex-player in the mould of LOD who will hand us every game on a platter.

Wouldn't at all be surprised if he gets selected for origin now

In all seriousness, I wish them both the best. Both have been great for the club and Bryce in particular has a special place in the hearts of most of the fans in that he was part of the 2005 glory.

I hope Fafita isn't a stranger for too long and returns to the fold in 3 years time.

Also glad that they are going to the sharks a rubbish club that are no chance of wining it all, thank god they didn't go to the roosters Broncos dragons etc all those teams with a chance next year

Telegraph spot on again.. and people say its full of crap

Rothfilth is usually accurate when it comes to the Sharks because he's buddies with their heirachy.

It must be tearing him apart that Gibbs is joining them, he can't stand him

Best of luck to both lads. I think Bryce will be good at the sharks as he was at the tigers. Fifita will be interesting to see but look what happened to another talented front rower with discipline issues in Cuthbertson when he went to the Sharks and then when he is at dragons or manly - a completly different player

As for the Tigers well we still have a really good pack - Woods, Galloway, Farah, Dwyer, Ellis, Heighno, Fulton, Groat, Schirnack, Begovich and hopefully Blair

Its a bit of a shame losing both Gibbs & Fifita but life goes on & i wish them all the best

Now i await the announcement of some signings :sign:

In regards to signings don't expect too much other then probably Blair i'd say - our sign ings were retaining Lawrence, Aysford, Woods, etc on long term deals - all of the 3 I mentioned would have had significant upgrades and deservedly so

it will be sad to see bryce gibbs and fifita leave but it is time to move on because we have adam blair coming in who is the size of both of these players combined and he will bring some toughness in our backrow to partner galloway or to partner gareth ellis and liam fulton.

I wouldn't expect any news on Blair until at least after we play the Storm.

On Gibbs and Fifita it is always bittersweet to watch players developed moving on but there are reasons behind it all. We have secured some young forward talent coming through the ranks and can hope that they match up to what we lose.

Even though we took up the option on Fifita it is very hard to expect him to play his best football for you when the club, if figures quoted are correct, would have been denying up to about two hundred thosand dollars a year. Professionalism only goes so far.

The Gibbonators defence will be sorely missed but again it is a long term deal which secures a future for his young family.

I wish them all the best of luck but a few poor results each year when facing their old club

I can only agree with this post, if the the reasoning behind the decisions is correct.
We will miss Gibb's defence but not so much his attack.
While Fifita produces a few good runs every match, there are not enough at this stage to rate him as high as some do.
best of luck to the two of them.

sad to see both go never thought i would see gibbs in another jersey…....and andrew watched him killing it in the 20s a couple of years ago sad because hes got potential but on the other hand weve still got woods groat murdoch begovich dwyer david fifita? and hopefully blair coming?

Can we expect to see the likes of BMM and Groat getting some more games this year perhaps?

Possibly, but I would be looking to use the best players at our disposal when it counts.

Yeah gud luck to both of them but im sure we will sign adam blair and more players we have heaps of cash wait untill we sign a mad player with blair im so sure 😀 tim sheens knows how to sign

people keep including Groat,Begovich and David Fifita when they are talking about the forward depth at the club. You can't include those guyz coz they are yet to prove themselves in first grade.Found it funny in the first Molltzen thread that was ressurected in the last week that people were talking about how good Blake Lazaraus and Tamata were going to be and where are they now? let them prove themselves

I also think groat and begovich will make a good go of it but time will tell anything could happen in between.

Im sure we will atleast sign a forward to replace 2 we just lost.

Sheens knows what hes doing….he will do whats best for the club.

Good luck to the guys.

They need it cause every player that leaves us doesnt improve most have gone backwards.

Harrison played well in 2010 but hes playing this year like he did for us in the final few years at our club
