I checked out concord yesterday at that BBQ, and they gave a nice tour of the interior (gyms and the like). Seemed pretty decent? Could probably use a bit of a touch up but it wasn't nearly as archaic as Mayer had suggested. But obviously i haven't seen what other clubs offer, so maybe it is.

Also, blair seems like a top bloke i'm not going to lie. and other people had said in articles last presseason he was a hard worker, led by example etc. you never know what he could do next year!

was a decent day, hope it continues!

I'm a good bloke too pHyR3 , but the WT's wouldn't want me wearing one of their jerseys

didn't realise you won a world cup for the kiwis and were a major part in winning a premiership (albeit stripped)

My point was if Blair wasn't playing well being a good bloke ,winning a World Cup or playing in a premiership winning side means diddly squat As I tried to say yesterday we can't continue to pick players on what they did 3-4 years ago

That's the mentality this club needs to change and change quickly

Come back to Pratten park for training!

Ashfield mall is round the corner, pretty sure the woollies there has protein shakes.

I'll be down at least once a week to throw **beer cans at the boys whenever they slack off**

Hope you're ready for a liver transplant.

Haha!

If they get that bad I'll start throwing full ones

Many years of playing all of their games at the venue has built them fair coffers which allowed it. Not to mention that the Redfern re-development was almost entirely paid for by public money

I know the dogs were based out of the Showground for a while, and they decided to go back to a redeveloped belmore.

I just find it strange that these supposed state of the art facilities are gathering dust, with no NRL clubs using them.

It could be a cost issue also? Who knows !

i know but the fact is he WILL be picked in round 1\. so i'm looking for something that means he could return to what he was doing 3 years ago.

even braith was continually selected at the chooks although he was crap. and yup, they ran 13th. THEN they offloaded him, which is exactly what we need to do and we've already begun. Offloading, pettybourne, utai, lote, groat, ayshford etc. etc. etc. is a good start. I expect blair and braith to leave after their contracts are up.

just like the chooks did, we also need to keep on clearing out the deadwood

edit: my point about him being a good bloke wasn't soley that, he seems nice he should play FG, it was also that (i think) he doesn't seem to be a lazy *#@# like many people portray him as on the forum. shouldve said that before as well.

There were some photos floating around a few months ago showing renovations in progress. I think they said it was at Concord, which would explain things looking a bit better.

I imagine theres merely the premises at Olympic Park/Showground….probably no equipment....someone would surely be using it if there was

I can't understand Mayers line of thinking here at all. As WTFL1981 rightly asks …. What's wrong with somewhere in the MacArthur region ? Is St.Gregorys a lesser school than Holy Cross ? Is the MacArthur region less likely to produce future stars than the Ryde region ?

Some on here were saying Humphreys was pro Balmain but are willing to back Mayer. Geez I'm not sure even Humphreys would have come up with something like this.

Always takes a wests wanker to think conspiracy….

Homebush would make more sense in terms of the State of The Art facilities the club would want moving forward.

After all we are contracted there for the next decade to play games so it would make sense.

Dogs train at Belmore and Bunnies at Redfern so it is not like the facility will be overflowing

I agree with this. It's a more central location than Ryde also.

10 minute drive?????

Fond of ex-magpies are you Guest ?
Great to see you adding such intelligence to the discussion :crazy

what's it got to do with 'producing stars' this is a question of where the tigers should train.

It should be a high quality facility

In a convenient location for existing players but also prospective ones who may not appreciate having to commute 1hr every day or an hour away from family, friends or jobs for spouses etc.

and perhaps campbelltown doesn't meet those criteria but ryde does.

Does anyone know if there is a reason the Deputy Mayor of Campbelltown, Paul Lake, is continually quoted saying negative things about WestsTigers when he sits on the board of Wests Campbelltown?

maybe hes not happy about something within the club, or with other factions of the board.

just speculating

Maybe he is sick of wests tigers claiming they are campbelltowns team when they couldn't give a fig about the area.

It is a cheap way to get your name out there.

Champion a cause where there is already a smattering of disgruntled folk and the target is a well known organisation with a decent profile.

Therefor by uttering a few words now and again you look like you are doing a lot when actually doing very little. Talk in grand scheme ideas without ever presenting a well thought out and structured plan moving forward.

Pretty much the same dross trotted out by the simpering little pansy from Leichhardt Council

Classic small time politics three card monty

There area number of simpering little pansies on Leichhardt Council, past and present, you might have to be more specific…....

Wests Tigers are considering hopping into bed with a rival code as they search for a new training base to replace Concord Oval.
The WestConnex project has all but spelt the end of the joint-venture club's time at its current facility and officials are exploring potential new locations they can call home.
One possibility is shifting to TG Millner Field, where they would be cohabitants with the Eastwood rugby club. Other options include the ELS Hall Park premises in Ryde, a site in Meadowbank or a location within the Homebush Bay precinct.

The Tigers have already increased their presence in the area by shifting home games from Allianz Stadium to ANZ Stadium. Tigers CEO Grant Mayer believes the WestConnex project means the club has ''two years max'' before the club is likely to be shifted from Concord. ''It's going to be massive, it's going underneath Parramatta Road, so it will be a big bonus for this area because there will be a whole bunch of urban regeneration,'' Mayer said. ''But to build it they will need to build space to park trucks, so I reckon we could be on the drawing board to be moved out of here. There's no way you could have trucks parked here and have a football team.''

If an appropriate site can be found, Mayer said it was possible to find a new home in just 12 months. ''[Concord Oval] is aged and when you have inferior training facilities you have to pay more for players to come to the club,'' Mayer said. ''This is an exciting opportunity for us.''
