Wests Tigers have an identity crisis

I went to st Greg's for a while. Whilst there the dragons use to train there once a month and occasionally against the 1st grade just as smeg suggested during Trent Barrett's time. Was fantastic and they were more than open to us watching and answering questions. Never once had a tigers player visited, but to be fair the club was only in its early stages so may not be indicative of current involvement.

My mum was a principal in the Liverpool area, she did have halatau and skandalis visit once, but so did Preston Campbell during his panthers days as they had a large aboriginal population. In my experience Others clubs visited the area as much, which is a shame but the tigers can only do so much as they are in a unique situation.

Also like to add that I don't think the crowds at campbelltown are that bad. Average figures are pretty even between the grounds. It is just that whenever campbelltown gets a bad crowd some people seem to need to point it out. Same thing doesn't happen when leichardt gets an average turn out, instead everyone just talks about the win and loss.

WT history (Balmain + Ashfield) is in the inner west - its future and position lies in the south west.

Sorry, we will not survive if we rely on the inner west. Get your head out of the sand and join the rest of us in reality

This is the point isn't it. The club is trying to cater for people that are not in the inner west. At the very worst the club is catering for both the inner west and the south-west equally.

It's just a beat-up.

I wonder how they manage this while managing the expectations of burgeoning inner west supporter base. Interesting times ahead

I really like the idea of the mooted training facility and basing of the NYC squad.

It gives the club a chance to really engage these young guys with the community and get them out into schools more often. I imagine it would be something for a kid to throw a ball around with one of these young blokes and follow their career to debut with WT if they are good and lucky enough to do so.

Grass roots, opposed training sessions with different U17's clubs (well monitored of course) to give them a look in and a point of aspiration.

The facility also gives a better access point to the Macarthur for the NRL squad.

I would dearly love to see a small registered club in the new Oran Park area branded as Wests Tigers and the re-branding of Wests Campbelltown and the Balmain sites.

With proper stewardship we are in a unique position to remain financially viable and grow our base in every part of Sydney

there is going to be a side from oran park that will join the group 6 comp in the next year or 2

He's an idiot and Campbelltown should be happy they have even 4 games, there are bigger regions of Sydney that have nothing.

P.S Balmain district isn't just inner west, it extends to the north bank of the parra river/harbour (with Manly confined to the Peninsula and Parra to the hills district it's the only district with NRL representation until Newcastle)

The current arrangement is best, and the club should grow support base across the entire Sydney metro area.

Going back in time Wests probably should have merged with the Dogs and Balmain and Norths should've merged, but now that's just useless thought.

Wow, I thought that the comment by Sabre was pinheaded, but yours is positively breathtaking.

Pin-headed because we don't share the same view as you 100%?
As much as we should be using the western suburbs we need to embrace our new strengths as a merged entity. We aren't Wests or Balmain, neither are we just one of them. Neither would exist without the other but the article (as well as many Wests Magpies protesters) almost suggests that we should move entirely to campbelltown and forget the rest.

The more games we win, the more choices we have. We need to build a reputation on the field first - the rest will fall into place.

Yes, my opinion is you are wrong.

Great, disagree all you like…Im interested in how you see us relying on the inner west.

Care to expand on that...or are you just going to disagree with anothers opinion?

Ive seen plenty of games this year played on opposition grounds outside the Greater Sydney Area which has seen the Tiger Supporters out cheer the home teams and get the boys home…

If fans Australia Wide know how to connect with them, why dont the people down the road???

I thought ink made his point quite clear…..atleast he doesnt call everyone gibberers or they have their heads in the sand.

We need both areas both grounds for now.We also need to take games at a bigger ground...its a business we want to make money.

LMAO, ''dont care to….''

Can't....more like it.

Anyway back to topic, I hope both the Macarthur region and Wests Tigers embrace each other, as this footy club continues to develop and evolve for future generations. Both sides need to take responsibility to ensure this happens in the near future.

There is my motherhood statement done

Wests Tigers dont do anything in Liverpool. And its our area. It to should be called Tiger Town.

I'd like to hear what people realistically believe that the the Wests Tigers are not doing down in the MacArthur region. These options need to be realistic, so I don't want to hear play more games, or move the training base as none of these options are realistic.
