My response from the Wests Tigers. It seems like bullsh*t to me when you consider the fact that the NSWRL works with the clubs when allocating games.

Unfortunately, yes this is correct. In previous years we have occasionally had a game before first grade, however this will not happen at Leichardt Oval for the 2026 season due to field preservation, and the fact that Pathways is run by NSWRL as opposed to the NRL.
We do however have a double header with the NRLW on the 16th August at Commbank Stadium for Indigenous round.
Wouldn't the schedule be worked out months a go? Two games would do, especially the Balmain games.
